Picking up a sandwich (with a mask on)
Customer to me: “Living in fear, huh?”
Me: “Yeah. I work with vulnerable, critically ill, immunocompromised children. So, yeah. I’m afraid of killing a child. Thank you”.

(6,017 posts)some people really do have a near-debilitating fear of needles. It's nothing to make fun of, they don't do it for fun or to be contrarian.

The mask is protecting THEM.
But, this is a difficult concept for the anti-Masker/anti-Vaxer.

(27,069 posts)And couldn't care less about protecting. Not because it's difficult but because they are psychopathic narcissists and thick minded.

(778 posts)Two days ago we had a neighbor who needed to be taken to the hospital by ambulance and one of the EMTs was heading for their door and was unmasked. I kindly suggested he put his mask on and he said he was fine because he was vaccinated. I already knew his patient wasn't, but it scared me to think that he thought all was well since he was vaccinated. I was scared for him and his future patients.

(12,490 posts)Limit 10 clients at a time and masks are mandatory for everyone, vaxed or not. No kids allowed.
I suspect that we will go back to the open air market where people had to stay in their cars. I give it 3 months.

(20,867 posts)Paying attention to fear is one of the things that keeps us alive. I get vaccinations. I wear a seat belt. I look both ways before I cross the street.

(10,410 posts)these literal future maggot farms do not deserve any response at all.
Just look them directly in the eyes, hold their gaze until that smug, self-satisfied smirk begins to fade, shake your head disapprovingly (at this point an eye roll is optional as well) and then disengage completely.
These fools KNOW that they are wrong, they KNOW that the only ones truly afraid are themselves and the people controlling their thoughts and actions. Make them confront that, make it clear that you know why they do what they do...and most important of all, make sure they know you do not care and they do not matter.
Nothing eats at these imbeciles more than being ignored or shunned.
