The Inside Story of How Trump Lost" pinpoints the moment that the relationship between former President Trump and Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley began to disintegrate.
It came last year during a fiery Oval Office confrontation over Milley's public apology for appearing in a photo op with Trump at St. John's Church:
TRUMP: Why did you apologize? Thats weak.
MILLEY: Not where I come from. It had nothing to do with you. It had to do with me and the uniform and the apolitical tradition of the United States military.
TRUMP: I dont understand that. It sounds like youre ashamed of your president.
MILLEY: I dont expect you to understand.

I hope Im still alive when that hell beast dies. He has no idea how many people will celebrate. Oh, and theyd better bury him in an undisclosed location (or cremate him) or his burial site will be over run with people lining up to take a whiz or a poop on his grave. Instead of an eternal flame, hell have an eternal stench of piss and poop.

(488 posts)Where he and I come from, it is a real man who admits it when he is wrong and apologizes if appropriate.
I will illustrate by showing the opposite:
thedonald never admits hes wrong and never apologizes.
I became an appreciator of General Milley the moment he said he erred.

(24,358 posts)he walked out there with Trump. Hell, I knew it. We all did. If he didn't he's an idiot. All he's sorry about is the public reaction to what he did.

I google-imaged "General Miley White House" and out of all of the pics of him in the first five pages of results -- many of which are definitely at the WH and/or have him seated or standing next to Trump -- and that day's pics are the only ones in which he's wearing camo.
He didn't make a mistake in the moment and immediately regret it. He made a bad, premeditated decision, and regretted it after experiencing the reaction.

(790 posts). . . could look at Joint Chief Chair General Milley's uniform and know that he's anything but "weak."

Last fall, Mrs. Hollyanne Milley, the wife of the Join Chiefs Chairman, saved the life of a veteran who collapsed at Arlington National Park. Mrs. Milley is a working cardiac nurse.

(17,232 posts)What can be said of General Milley, IMO, is that he ends up on the good side of the line, but there are not many public examples of him showing particular intestinal fortitude towards Mr Trump.

I'll bet he's coined some colorful hyphenated nouns & adjectives, military-style.
