his claim that the Pres didn't call the consulate attack terrorism. Is that it?
Heard "Romney gaffe on Libya" on the radio this morning.

(2,795 posts)Contrary to Romney and Repub accusations, Obama in fact did not apologize for the attacks or blame them on protestors, but on the day after the attacks the Pres referred to them as acts of terror that would be brought to justice.
It's been great to see the news clips of Obama's speech in the Rose Garden the day after the attacks- just shows how disgustingly craven the RW attacks have been.

In fact, the president spoke in the Rose Garden on the day after the attack and said the following:
No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for. Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake, justice will be done.

Fox News did a propaganda spin on the events that ignored the President's statement.
And indeed, the White House was very cautious after the attack which was so obviously a highly sensitive security matter. No one could know whether the attack was an isolated event in Libya or part of some orchestrated plan by Al Qaeda. No one could know whether the perpetrators were Libya-based pretty much or perhaps assisted by outsiders. The events needed a lot of investigation. Terrorism is not just mob violence.
We were given a copy of the video of the events and could see the truck and the attack. It is posted way back when on DU. You could probably still find it here.
The administration was wisely cautious about prematurely reporting the details on the attack but did not mislead.
Fox News claimed that the Obama administration hid the truth from the American people. Fox News was wrong.
Romney apparently gets his news from Fox. That in and of itself should disqualify him from the presidency.
Fox News is strictly a propaganda organ for the far right, not a news source.
