Going so far as to say, parents have dropped the ball on encouraging their children to get married before they make a baby with someone. This man is a stone idiot

My Grandmother was widowed when her Husband was murdered for trying to get blacks in the Union in NY. in the 40's
She was Pregnant with baby #3, Over night she became a Single Mother

My mother unbeknowst to her married an abusive man who threaten to kill their children and himself, then she married my father, who unbeknownst to her prefered the company of a woman around the corner.

I have an Aunt who's Husband prefer drugs over being a family man.

I have friends who's husband's liked the company of Prostitutes more that sitting at home partcipating in family game night.

I have another friend who became a single mother after she was raped and decided to keep the baby. Actually I have 4 girfriends who that has happened too.

Most recently a dear friend of mine had leave her husband when he decided to raise his fist to her, and beat their daughter on top of a washing machine.

All the women I mentioned were married first, with the exception of the ones who were raped, they had children, and then became single parents, through no fault of their own. Mitt Romney has no freakin clue how women become single mothers. it's like he believes all single mothers are that way because they turned down a marriage proposal from Prince Charming, but instead decided to sleep with the "prince' and just make a baby.

He doesn't even consider that fact that the Reason these women are single mothers is because the Father's LEAVE, they get to disappear when they are done making the babies and most of the time it's the women who are EXPECTED to stick around and struggle to Raise their children with no help from the sperm donors. When are the bio-dads going to held accountable for the raising and rearing of the babies they help to create????

My mother did the right thing she got married and then had babies. Marriages fail and most of the time the mother gets the kids and the father gets to disappear.

It seemed like he had those education and two-parent household talking points burning a hole in his pocket and he just had to work them in somewhere.

The question was about assault weapons and he turned it into condemnation of single mothers and poor education. Of course forgetting that the Aurora, CO shooter who used assault weapons with that infamous 100-round magazine came from a nice suburban home with two professional parents and was a well-educated person.

I don't want this man and the religious regressives he will drag into office on his coattails anywhere near the Oval Office. I raised two children on my own because my husband at the time decided he'd rather not assume responsibility in our home. He went his way, I went mine. Those kids are now adults with college educations and good solid lives. My son is an engineer and my daughter has just gone back to school to study nursing. They got to where they are because I singe parented them and taught them the values which they apply in their lives now. There are millions of women like me out there who learned early that you cannot always count on the father of your children to stand by you and to be active in those children's lives. That does not make us moral reprobates. It does not diminish us as human beings or make our contributions less worthy.

I have truly come to loathe this man and what he represents.
