She wants people to know she wasn't there to steal or break things - "just" there to overthrow the government is all. No biggie. No reason to alarm anyone. Certainly no reason to arrest people or put them in prison. They're not criminals - they're patriots!

And even though she saw with her own eyes, touched with her own hands, and heard with her own ears - she even had photos she took herself - she was still able to tell herself it was Antifa, aided by the police, that caused the trouble.

She could stab someone to death, toss the knife, go home, wash the blood off, destroy her clothing, get some sleep, and the next day claim she saw some Antifa-looking person in a hoodie and jeans carrying a big knife.

And she's not alone in this ability to spin a new reality as needed. It is a common trait found among Trump supporters.

Probably why Trump's ever-changing lies make sense to them.

They adapt to whatever reality works at that time. Whatever lie that allows for their beliefs to be true. They are cushioned against anything that disrupts how they see themselves and what they believe.

Confronted by facts, they get defensive because they feel attacked and then they double-down.

Treat them as if what they have to say has any validity and you get even more crazy. It simply spills out of them with the least bit of encouragement.

And now there are people wanting us to pretend it was no big deal. Nothing unusual. That it was anything but what it actually was - insurrection by domestic terrorists. An armed assault, literally, on our government.

I say armed because if you're using a weapon of any sort, you are considered armed, and they used poles, sticks, baseball bats, their fists, bear spray, mace/OC. They had guns at the ready - just waiting on the call. They used fire extinguishers and bike racks as weapons. They assaulted the police causing multiple injuries, to include loss of eyes and traumatic brain injuries, as well as multiple deaths relating to the events that day. They even trampled one of their own to death. The authorities found pipe bombs. They built a gallows.

And they sauntered away like it was nothing.

They bragged about it. They posted photos and videos all over social media. They were proud of themselves.

How fucked up is that?

How broken are we as a nation if we can't hold them all accountable for the exact nature of their crimes?
