Last Night, Dead Winter Carpenters at Truckee Outdoor Ampetheater/Park
Nice park near the river, great venue... BUT no limitations on people. Outdoors so we got ther early and set up camp.
as the crowd thickened, I started having waves of anxiety. Like I hadnt been around that many people in so long, I was freaking out. I literally had waves of tears and realized the gaps had been filled in and my escape to the parking lot was cut off essentially. I was grateful we had chairs and really defended our space and the people in front of us also spread out and we filled up the gap betwwen us with stuff to pervent others moving in.
As more people poured into the venue, the announcer asked us to "make room, get cosy" to accomodate more people....we all looked around and said collectively...."Nope, We're good"
I still had moments of joy with the music and watching the kids dance & play, overlapped with panic and moments of horror at the amount of humans in one place.
Think I wanna just cash in my chips and get an acre in the real woods with a pod house and just isolate forever. Humans scare me more now... too many of them...
I think Im ok with podcasts, etc...

(7,153 posts)I picked up my "uniform" yesterday.
I was wearing a mask, but it was very disconcerting to see the staff and country club workers NOT wearing masks.
I'm sure they're "fully vaccinated", just like me, but...
At least I'll be working outdoors, hopefully not face to face with anyone.

(30,613 posts)You didn't mention whether anybody was vaccinated, wearing masks, etc.
Current guidance is, vaccinate AND mask. And for me, also avoid heavy crowds like the...well...plague.

(13,362 posts)half to 2/3??? IF that. And we all know the kids everywhere are just little petri dishes
yeah, it was fun but Im not so addicted to the festival thing that I NEED to go deal with that.
I kinda like hearing music on podcasts at home in my own comfort zone

(100,099 posts)And last week I went to my first indoor event since COVID (Diamondbacks vs Giants at Chase Field) and had no problems, it was pretty much like old times.
My only complaint about the event was that it took so long to get a beer but that was about it.
