The 4th really brought out the Trumper jerks.

I knew they were there. I didn't know it was their God given right to own guns and set off fireworks. Fireworks are illegal here. 5 houses burned. The fire dept went out on 23 calls. The ERs filled up with burn victims. One man had his hand amputated. Most visits were injuries to hands and eyes.

In Trump world the right to set off fireworks Trumps all that. They just don't care. The 4th afterall is a celebration of their rights. They are PATRIOTS fighting for the future of their country.

I am so tired of jerks who think it's ok to say whatever horrible thing they think and break whatever law they don't agree with.

It is so evident on FB. So many horrible offensive comments.

after a decades-long ban on them. We're in a drought. We've been having temps in the 100s. So of course the Repubs wanted to make the risk of forest fires even greater.

All I can think is that they want the forests to burn so that they can have timber sales afterward.

clandestine strongholds in the mountains catch fire while they are holed up in them. I went for a drive in the Castle Mts. last week and it is full of Ruby Ridge houses, ATVs and cows*. It was awful and I was afraid the whole mountain range would go up in flames before I could get back to the highway.

And I saw TFG floats all dressed up for the parade at the county seat. I decided to stay away from the crowds this year and kept well away from the parade route while I was in town.

...(this neighbor moved a while back) we'd go out for days before & after the 4th and would pick up bottle rocket guts all over the yard. All the other neighbors did the same.
This guy would fire a few hundred over the course of 6 or 7 days, and let everyone else clean up his mess.
Fortunately, no major damage was ever done.
On that didn't go off, but burned when it came down did ruin one of our rose bushes though.
I called him on it, and he did buy us a new one. 4" tall, when the one we lost was 3 FEET tall.

The deplorables figured one didn't count because it was not established that it was fireworks. 8 people got out but their 3 dogs died. That would be so traumatic and completely devastating.

The smaller fires didn't count either. But the fireworks have to go out on each one and that costs a lot of taxpayer money.

Seriously? Now everything is letting Trump dimwits control our enjoyment? We went to a town block party on the 4th. All the kids laughing, bounce houses, games, a local Beatles tribute band played. People either vaccinated and/or masked. Having fun, smiling again. Then everyone gathered on blankets and watched a great fireworks show.

Geez....who care what 'Trumpers' do on the 4th. Yawn already. Enjoy life and fight them tooth and nail through community organizing and fighting for voting rights.

But not everything is about them and their effect. The 4th could be enjoyed while ignoring them.

or even when responsible, fairly sober individuals shoot them off, as long as weather and drought conditions don't make it dangerous, and if the more dangerous fireworks are kept out of the hands of idiots. We were camping in a heavily forested campground a few years ago and actually witnessed a bottle rocket start the top of a huge Ponderosa pine on fire. It could've started the whole forest ablaze if the fire department hadn't made it there so quickly.

I think I see why fireworks are illegal there.

They're technically illegal here in Ohio too, but police don't care if they're set off around the fourth during normal hours. Next year they'll be completely legal here. I grew up here and it's fun, not something associated with the right in any way. It's something we've done all my life, and I don't know anyone who suffered serious injury requiring a hospital visit.

I'd bet people who motocross dirt bikes or play softball suffer more trips to the ER than someone lighting a string of firecrackers. I sat on the porch this year as several grandkids launched bottle rockets across the yard like I did at their age. Whizzz *POP*. Good clean fun, and had no idea it didn't fit the liberal agenda.

I live 8 miles from the largest fireworks warehouse in North America, so maybe a few skyrockets and Black Cats don't seem as dangerous as a chain smoking truck driver at Phantom Fireworks.

Five houses burned? What is wrong with people in your area?

...but what they're making are illegal in all 50 states, and should be. They aren't "fireworks".

They're M-80s and M-100s. M-100s (Silver Salutes) are akin to a third of a stick of dynamite and are about 3 inches long and an inch in diameter. People ostensibly use them for pest control and illegal fishing because they explode under water, but they make a hell of a boom on the fourth. Regular fireworks made in China are too affordable to bother making them at home.

People make them in their garage with black powder, glue and wax soaked heavy cardboard tubes. They go for $5 to $10 and up if you can find them. Obviously when there are several pounds of powder and a stove to melt wax, accidents happen and it's sad. I've asked my kids to resist the temptation of easy money.
