Tucker Carlson claimed that the NSA leaked contents of his private emails to journalists, during a Wednesday morning appearance on Mornings With Maria.
Carlson alleged last week that the National Security Agency had monitored his private communications, which, if true, would be a massive scandal. Carlsons claim has been met with skepticism. And curiously, his bombshell allegation was mostly ignored by the rest of Fox News in the days that followed. So Carlsons appearance on Fox Business with anchor Maria Bartiromo is notable.
The interview opened with the Fox prime time host recapping his previous allegations. Then, he made some news.
Yesterday I learned, that and this is going to come out soon that NSA, leaked the contents of my e-mail to journalists in an effort to discredit me, Carlson claimed. I know this because I got a call from one saying oh, this is what your e-mail was about.

NSA turns evidence it has of crimes over to FBI and other law enforcement.
Neither NSA or CIA are law enforcement, nor do they "operate" in the US against US citizens.
If Tucker was approached by law enforcement over information he knows was in an e-mail or cell call that was either one person in the US and both parties off-shore - it is a reasonable guess that NSA had some part in finding it and turning it over. It'd be a guess, but it'd also be a good possibility.

yes.
But the important thing is none of his claims have been disputed.
Traitor or not, he spoke the truth about what the NSA was doing.

I am simply discussing. what he reported about the NSA spying on Americans.
What justice he deserved is beside the point and not what I am talking about.

(57,275 posts)His "information" regarding the NSA should be considered for what it was: the report of a four-year veteran of an NSA contractor. If his proof was so good, why hasn't he shared it? Why hasn't he come back to put the lie to the NSA? Why haven't any of his charges gotten traction?
I know two 30yr+ NSA vets who think he's a self serving, self promoting bag of wind.
Who do you think is trying to "get" Snowden?

NSA does not monitor communication US to US. For the NSA to be involved requires ...

Snowden showed this is not true. They do monitor domestic communications. That is all I am saying.
Not here to debate the guilt of Snowden.

(47,613 posts)How stupid are you that you would include incriminating information in a damn email?
I still don't understand these people, who in this day and age don't know better than to use email and text messages to send sensitive or compromising information and photos. Maybe if you're fifteen years old, but you'd think worldly, grown adults would have more sense. It is like they ask to get caught.
Then we have insurrectionists posting their acts of treason on social media! Idiocy seems to be highly contagious.

(9,670 posts)Instead of instantly trying to discredit....the NSA (!) of all things!
I'm sure there are a million people out there willing to ignore whatever treachery is contained in that email since Carlson has so effortlessly painted the NSA as the villain, yet they would be riveted and revolting if that email came from, say, Hunter Biden.
Take a taste of your own medicine, you hack. The pendulum is beginning to swing the other way.

(7,921 posts)2. TC is facing down something he KNOWS will be career ending if not incarcerating.
3. Nothing he has mentioned publicly is true...with the caveat that it may involve email he sent or received.
TC is like the rest of the lying liars who lie for a living in that everything he says is intended to obscure truth and deflect focus away from him. He so thoroughly enjoys manipulating other people's perception that he cannot deal with the real anymore. Like TFG he's gotten where he is by using propaganda to empower himself and abuse and confuse others.
ScratchCat
(2,002 posts)That this involves some emails sent to someone who was under surveillance by the NSA. This could include a variety of people residing outside the USA.
Ford_Prefect
(7,921 posts)He is the only person who mentions NSA so far.
How would he know that they did that?
I have no reason at all to believe TC on any of this. If and when the alleged email becomes public, assuming the copy we see is accurate, then we might have some basis to consider how it became so. Who released it and why are questions to ask at that point.
I don't doubt that NSA could read his email and might chose to do so under circumstances involving a foreign person or entity. It just makes no sense that they would leak it in the way he has alleged. They aren't in enforcement and they don't have an axe to grind with TC as far as we know. If they were interested in hurting him in some way there are far more effective methods available to them.
If they are monitoring someone else why would they blow that by releasing or leaking the alleged email? Intelligence work isn't about enforcement. It is about quietly finding out who is doing what and then using that information to gain an advantage, perhaps by manipulating the people involved.

(19,568 posts)First off why would he be so sure the recipient wasn't hacked, or shared it? Secondly, why would his executive producer know?
ScratchCat
(2,002 posts)Simple deduction would indicate the idiots were lining something up for his show. Given how shaken he is by this, it would seem to be someone under criminal investigation by our Federal Government. If the NSA picked this up, then the person resides outside of the USA. If he made up the bit about the NSA, then they are domestic. Use your imagination.
