... he made one last post the day after his announcement that he was selling Democratic Underground. Since then, nada single word! From the election... to the insurrection... to the inauguration --- I kept expecting him to pop in and say hello and share his feelings and insights with us.
I wonder what he's doing now. --- Because we've heard zero news about him (to my knowledge) I imagine he's probably in some South Pacific island paradise: wearing a brightly colored shirt and shorts, a straw hat, beach shorts, woven sandals, and enjoying a warm breeze on the beach, and a cool tropical cocktail... someplace without internet access.

They all have been - fair and patient.

(38,408 posts)The next stage of parenthood is the police calling you in the middle of the night telling you to pick up your kid.

(12,132 posts)he got pulled over for something stupid and the officer thought he might be drunk so he gave him a field sobriety test.
The kid passed every test and the officer just couldn't believe it.
So he talked our son into doing the breathalyzer. He said he would not hold the findings against him and would be free to go but he just had to see what the breathalyzer would say. Son said OK.
And blew a fair amount over the legal limit. I forget what the number was but it was high enough that the officer said he could not let him drive home so they called us to get him. But the officer kept his word and didn't charge him. I'm still pretty shocked by that almost 25 years later.
Everyone was pretty lucky that day and that is also the day we discovered the kid was a high functioning alcoholic.
He's better now.

(19,214 posts)it's Bob Boudelang!
"I'm keeping a quite eye on all you librul peaceniks. Our grate president Donald Tramp will rise again in August. I know this because Q lives two trailers down from me, and gives me all the straight poop. Arrest my case!
And I'm not coming back to DU full time. I'm too busy building new gallows for the traitor Mike Pents. So stop saying that!"
Signed,
Bob Boudelang, angry American patriot.
Oh, I so miss Bob. Was it Mr. Benchley's alter-ego?

(18,770 posts)I don't know if that's a good impression, or...
I never knew if he was a master of satire or just ahead of the times.

(19,214 posts)such as, "arrest my case" and "so stop saying that". There were so many more though, and Bob was certainly a 'one-off' psuedo-republican maniac. He would have fit right in with all the "Q" conspiracy theorists though.
I always looked forward to Bob's rants, and the old "Hate Mailbag" was also a knee slapper. It's insane that we're looking back at the Bush years as "good times" though.

(19,214 posts)Probably living in the mountains of Idaho with the rest of the "off-gridders". Built himself a log cabin, fishes, hunts, and raises chickens. No running water or electric lights, no telephone, no internet.
Votes straight republican now.
Naaaaaaaaah! Never happen. I can see wanting to take a break from all things political and technological, though. Sometimes you just have to find your center again. That's just one old hippie's opinion.

He's relaxing in a hammock on the sugar sand beach with some kind of fruity cocktail in a tall frosted glass with a tiny rainbow umbrella on it.
He has hired Ben, From Below Deck, as his private chef.
Life is good.
