His plane got shot down and there was nothing he could do to help his crew. If you look at a photo of an Avenger, it is obvious that it is very difficult for the radioman and gunner to bail out.

It was the same with all WW II aircraft - some crew positions were more survivable than others.

Do you actually feel that way about what he did during WW2, or do you only say you feel that way because of his actions as a politician?

So, let's say he was shot down under the exact same circumstances, but instead of him becoming a conservative, he became one of the top progressive leaders during his time. In that scenario, would you still feel that he committed a crime or did something unacceptable?

If you would view that differently, then why focus on something like this when there are plenty of legitimate criticisms for him? If you think it's the same regardless, then I am curious what you think he should have done.

Like I said, I don't care about GHW Bush or his grand daughter jumping out of plane. I am also kind of an unsentimental prick who doesn't really get into that stuff with anything. You can shit on Bush Senior all you want and I won't complain, but I do think the shitting on needs to make sense. I think it safe to say that you agree that if Jimmy Carter was in WW2 and his plane was shot down in the same situation, then you wouldn't be saying he committed a crime and murdered his crew, or whatever language you used. You could have just said "Bush Senior was a horrible leader during his time in government" and I'm betting the vast majority of people here wouldn't have taken issue with that. Although, you seem to dislike all people from that family, even the granddaughters who seem pretty liberal if I'm not mistaken. I often see similar irrationality from conservatives, but not as much from fellow liberal left-of-center types.

But just so we're all clear. You wouldn't think he did something wrong as pilot if he didn't turned out to be progressive, right? Good. We agree then. Bush, with his plane on fire, properly released his bombs at the target and then tried to get back to the carrier and had to bail out. His crew unfortunately did not survive. GHW Bush was the only pilot shot down that day who wasn't captured and had their livers eaten.

I was watching the Today Show and when they mentioned that she was up next I switched the channels. I refuse to watch anything she does.

This is a perfect example of "white privilege". She got a cushy job at the Today Show right out of college with a degree in journalism. You know who else has degrees in journalism? My daughter and two of my nieces. My daughter graduated with honors. She still had a difficult time finding a journalism job and had to start out writing copy for an ad agency, and not a well-known, large ad agency either. Other than being Dumbya's daughter, what exactly did she do to deserve a slot on the Today Show?

So, no. I will not sing her praises.

Bush seems pretty liberal. She graduated college in 2004. She went into teaching for awhile. Then she worked with UNICEF. Then back to teaching. Then hired by NBC in 2009.

If we're going to grouse about privileged people being privileged, spread it around a bit. She didn't do anything egregious or unusual near as I can tell. Plenty of Democratic children get similar opportunities.

I have no interest in visiting the sins of the father on the daughter.
