issue for their base. I see this as a "we did Juneteenth, we've handled the history of slavery now. What more could they want?"

5. Did they really make it June 19th every year?

That's what I've seen so far.

If so, then that means the GOP thinks they pulled a fast one, making a new holiday one that only falls on a weekday 5 years out of 7.

I'm sure many would relish the idea that Emancipation Day drew a short stick in the holiday sweepstakes.

I don’t like that they fool with actual days on the calendar. Keep historical days in tact. It’s like celebrating a birthday a few days later. It isn’t the same.

I'm mainly wondering cause the PuQ's went along with this awfully easy.

Worried someone forgot to cross an I or dot a T and it turns out that nobody gets Fri or Monday off if June 19th falls on a Sat/Sunday.

It'd create just the sort of cultural wedge issue that the GOP thrives on.

Like "Oh hey you wanted it June 19th, so that's date we signed off on! Sorry it's only a weekday 5/7 years, not our fault!"

That kinda shit.

Plus, they're furiously banning CRT wherever and whenever they can and they continue to spend copious amounts of time attacking BLM so not sure how well they're redeeming themselves on racial issues by nearly unanimously approving this.
