Imagine an efficient, intelligent person with Trump's narcissism, lack of conscience and hunger for permanent power. Had such a person been president for the past four years, we would now be living in a dictatorship.
However, the Republican Party has many presidential wannabees who fit that description and will be contenders in 2024. Trump and his minions established the blueprint for ignoring the constitution and doing whatever he wanted to do. The Republican Party and millions of MAGAs went along with it.
Right now, our democracy is teetering on the edge of a cliff. If the GOP has their way, they will own us all after the next two elections. They are at all out war with us. And it's past time for us to fight back like our lives depended on it. Because they do.

(15,035 posts)Trump's uncontrollable impulses drove him to bark out whatever it was he wanted to do at the moment. The puppet masters were probably highly frustrated that he wouldn't stick to their script.
The only one who seems to have had real power over him was Putin. (Possibly because of some videos from a Moscow hotel room?)

They trusted him to hate and loved that he was at war with world. He will not be easy to replicate. Fortunately.

On one end, hes a fucking idiot that can do major damage. On the other end, hes a fucking idiot that has no idea what hes doing so not much will be accomplished.
The major downside of his idiocy is that he lets other slightly more competent people do the grunt work with little oversight so they are the ones that do the major damage. Theyre the ones that take advantage of the idiocy for their own agenda. For example, the Muslim ban wasnt Trumps idea. A slightly more competent person implemented that and because Trump is an idiot, Trump has no input. Trumps just happy to be invited.

(3,166 posts)Trump was too stupid and had too short of an attention span to do much damage on his own, but the real threat was the people behind the scenes. I am sure that some scary stuff went on behind the scenes.
