"Nothing But Sleaze" Romney will insist Obama “man up” at tonight's debate

Nothing But Sleaze

JOSH MARSHALL OCTOBER 16, 2012, 11:44 AM 3320

Richard Williamson is Mitt Romney’s top foreign policy advisor, the guy who orchestrated Romney’s original effort to exploit the attack in Libya before it was even clear the US Ambassador had died. Now he’s saying that Romney will insist Obama “man up” and take responsibility for the Ambassador’s death at tonight’s debate.

This comes as the latest reports from Libya make clear that the entire ‘scandal’ Romney and his crew have tried to whip up is as baseless as you might have expected. People in Libya actually still think the attack was tied to the notorious video tape. Whether that’s right and that’s true isn’t clear. But it’s more evidence of the actual uncertainty over just what happened and how much success the Romney camp has had gaming the political press into imagining a scandal or “cover up” at the heart of this.

The real story is basically what it was the night of — Mitt Romney giddy to exploit US deaths as quickly as possible.

2. That day was Mitt at his worst, and yet he really wants to make something of it.

Is this really all they have--politicizing an unfortunate and sad terrorist attack? It doesn't even resonate, because it didn't happen HERE on US soil, and I think people are kind of used to watching Americans die overseas after 11 years of war. How much outrage does he think this will gin up?

3. When with Romney 'man up' to Bain's outsourcing of jobs?

Or showing us his tax returns?

Hell, Romney won't even 'man up' to owning his own positions on virtually every issue.

before the last debate. He's pulling a Sarah Palin-esque questioning of Obama's manhood. Don't fall for it, Obama.

They're falsely propagating the notion that Romney will go on the attack tonight.

I said this earlier, and posted so---Romney will show up as a syrupy, sweet Homecoming King who wants to love the world. He will try to build consensus and harmony and he will forcefully minimize any conflict. This is his moment to "connect" and he's going to be the worst FAKE we've ever seen.

So yeah. I hope Obama is prepared for it.

It's not going to be a cake walk--if Romney dominates the stage with his fake, syrupy-sweet personality--and Obama is trying to counter lies from the first debate and go on the attack. Romney will look Presidential and Obama will look like a crumudgeon, especially in this intimate, townhall-style setting.

I assume that Obama and his team anticipate Romney to continue to lie like a disgusting rat--and that they understand what a clever stage artist he is.

If not, we'll all be back here in 9 hours, in a freak out.

I'm trying to stay positive. I believe in Obama and I know what a piece of scum Romney is. I just think he spends most of his waking hours figuring out how to bamboozle people. Look at Mr. Pots and Pans--that's all they do. They are sociopaths.

5. Obama's response should be...

"There were 50 attacks on our foreign consulates and embassies in the last 20 years, many of them occurring during Republican administrations. I never politicized Republicans for these attacks, nor did my fellow Democrats. Mr. Romney is exploiting the deaths of our foreign dignitaries and he should be ashamed. Immediately after the attacks, I launched an investigation and ordered the FBI and the CIA to work together to bring the terrorists to justice. I will not stop until there is justice, however, I hope that Mr. Romney will cease his very shameful attempt to bamboozle the American people with his conspiracy theories and inaccurate comments."

Just say that...or some variation thereof. No charge!

Shame that bastard for the shameful bastard that he is!!

It would be terrific for Obama to say that.

I think it would also be a good time for Obama to lay out, in very cogent bullet points--the things that he has done to obtain justice for those who were killed in Benghazi. Obama could spell out what he has done--dispelling the Fox News bullshit that he hasn't done anything. Educate the people. Talk to those audience members and explain the action you've taken.

It would also be effective to explain that when there is an investigation you don't go blaring to the world what you are doing. Some of the tactics and actions are happening within the context of a very serious investigation. Explain all of that. Make the public understand that you are the serious problem solver--the grown up--and that the Republicans and their Fox News Noise Wurlitzer from hell are nothing more than bullies and non-serious people who are politicizing and creating hysteria.

a bully; they'll do it again for as long as it takes to win, until America gets sick of their election platform...of lies and conniving and bullying.
