Colonel fired by Trump offered to prosecute Michael Flynn by court-martial for calling for a coup

Army Lt. Col. Yevgeny Vindman offered to court-martial Michael Flynn, Donald Trump's former national security advisor, after Flynn appeared to call for a military coup in the United States.

"With these seditious remarks Comrade Flynn may have crossed the line for recall to active duty and court-martial," Vindman said on Twitter on Monday.

Vindman, who's part of the Army Judge Advocate General's Corps, the legal arm of the Army that comprises serving officers, added, "As a JAG I'm qualified and also happy to prosecute this case."

Vindman is the twin brother of Alexander Vindman, the retired Army lieutenant colonel who came to prominence in 2019 after testifying before Congress about Trump's dealings with Ukraine. The Trump White House fired Yevgeny Vindman in February 2020.

There's strong indications that Flynn was deeply involved. But the DOJ will need a solid case to prosecute.

Perhaps, for efficiency's sake, they want to try the whole bundle at once, but the current situation seems at least as open and shut as the one against Chauvin.

"If it please the Court, I would like to enter this evidence, in the form of a video recording."

*play tape*

"The prosecution rests."

I know if I was on that jury, the only reason I'd be OK with dragging it out an extra hour or two would hinge on whether the free lunch was going to be any good.

Justice matters.

For many reasons. Witnesses could flee if warned beforehand being just one of them.

For example. Not saying that's what they're actually doing. No idea about that and that's the way it must be.

He deserves the full weight of the military justice system to come down on his traitorous head so that it makes clear this open advocacy for sedition is repugnant to the uniform he once wore and the constitution he swore an oath to protect and defend.

He needs to be recalled, he needs to be tried for treason. Where is the military? Where is their patriotic duty? Why are they allowing a traitor who has embarrassed his country and the military itself to continue to spew hate and treasonous ideas? This traitor is going to be the cause of a civil war if left alone.

Flynn cited Myanmar (and couldn't say it) because it was a military coup. He seems to think he'd be in the catbird seat if that happened, even if the stated purpose was to put Dumdum back into power. If such a coup happened, you can bet Dumdum would not be in poer, he'd only be a front man and rabble rouser, he's not good at anything else.

Following the Myanmar pattern, the military would see a hell of a lot of civil disobedience and outright violence. Something tells me that at some point, the moneyed movers and shakers there are going to realize it's not worth the trouble and call for a return to elections. Buying corrupt men and running them for office is a lot cheaper than having personal armies to defend them against the people.

I would think that only an active member of the armed forces would have the capacity to do this. Notwithstanding the fact that he has a conflict of interest in the matter given the fact that the former guy fired him last year. In any event, if Vindman is no longer a JAG, how could he himself recall Flynn to active duty status in order to prosecute him?

As to the DOJ/Garland, I expect that Garland may not have a green light from Biden to go after former tRump acolytes and his various mobster henchmen.
