Three Republican senators have introduced a bill to ban the federal government from establishing COVID-19 vaccine passports, following in the footsteps of at least 10 GOP-led states.
Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Mike Braun of Indiana, and Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming introduced the legislation to the Senate Friday. The bill would also prevent the government from working with third parties, such as airlines, on setting up their own vaccine passport systems.
"Americans shouldn't be discriminated against because of COVID-19 vaccine status - whether that is at work or in everyday life," Cruz said in a statement announcing the bill. "We should be encouraging individuals to receive the vaccine through increased patient protections, not mandating it."
The senator also said he got the vaccine because "it was the right decision for me, but people should be free to make the decision that is right for them."

Americans shouldn't be so careless as to infect their fellow Americans.

Those of us who got vaccinated have earned the right to go maskfree unless company policy says otherwise. If asked, we all have vaccine cards and know the exact dates of our injections.
Businesses and schools are already requiring proof of vaccine to continue employment or live in the dorms or attend in-person classes. While there are folks who legitimately can not take the vaccine, it's not 30% of Americans.
Cruz is a hypocrite: "People should be free to make the decision that is right for themselves." Unless it's a woman... Or someone LGBTQ...
Anti maskers refused to mask, and now refuse to vaccinate or mask.
I'd say let them infect each ohter (they will) but they're not self aware enough not to infect others and breed variants.Free-dumb!

Um. This is an At-Will State in a Free-Market capitalistic economy.
We can fire you for wearing the wrong color tie.
But this is cancel culture!
You're right. You're being canceled for not following company policy. Which is what your JOB IS.

I do have the right to know that the person / technician who's going to be cleaning my teeth or doing some other up close thing such as cutting my hair etc., has been vaccinated or not away.

Cruz's argument isn't limited to those in the US. There are plenty of European privacy advocates that argue the same thing.
