Focusing too much on the potential for violence encourages Trump yahooism

I hear folks saying, "Oh my gosh, if the Republicans keep fanning anti-democracy flames it could lead to further violence!" My question is, do the people who say that want to encourage the Trumpists and white nationalists? Because that's what the pearl clutching actually accomplishes.

The yahoo types yearn for violence. Telling them that you're afraid of it makes them feel strong. They're not chastened by people implying they might get violent. They're flattered. It gives them a charge. It makes them feel relevant.

Imo, if you really want to keep democracy, focus on money, not the potential for violence by Trump's oddball hordes. If the Republican boneheads destabilize the country and bring anarchy by sabotaging democracy, checks might stop flowing into bank accounts. Property might lose value. The legal compacts and norms that give value to 401(k) holdings, pensions, and Social Security might go soft or give way altogether. Maybe democracy is a load bearing wall, in other words, and we shouldn't take a saw to it.

Think like a marching MAGA Republican for a minute. A few dozen Capitol Police might be killed by Trumpy rioters in 2024? Yawn. Might happen, but, if so, thoughts and prayers. Not my problem. But wait! You say I might not be able to upgrade to a bigger boat when I retire? Oh shit!

I agree the media is keeping the idea of a violent insurrection alive and well. ShazamIam May 2021 #1

I cringe when I read about how the mean gun humpers in red hats, black and yellow hats etc are planning for some new civil war, revolution, circle jerk, whatever the fuck they want to call it. Really makes us look pathetic and weak. You think the other side is shaking in their boots at the thought of progressives and the left fighting back?? There is more of us then them!! It’s really sad and pathetic worrying about some gun fuckers doing nothing.

The mobs are a tool, deployed as needed to create chaos.
