IIRC, Steele was an advisor to that group, not a founder like Schmidt.

Schmidt had a bit of a nervous breakdown. Said he was taking some time . . . . But that Lincoln Project made a TON of money so who knows? Maybe was in it for the bucks until the shit hit the fan.
