Yesterday, Friday, I was unfortunate enough to have one of my long-term very creepy patients attend my office after not having seen him for about a year. The one plus of this pandemic is that a lot of the lunatics just stay home, not always for obvious reasons as youll find out in this diatribe which I am posting, but I digress.
This guy is a retired professional who is one of the most paranoid, right wing, insidiously horrifying individuals whom Ive had the misfortune to meet in a lifetime. And thats really saying something. I walked into the room and before I could say a word he said I want to tell you something its very important. Ive been doing a lot of reading and this whole virus business is a fraud and a fake. The vaccine which was designed by Pfizer is going to kill millions of people and this is deliberate.
It got worse, believe it or not, from there. I listened patiently for fifteen minutes, I wont post the specifics because the last thing I want to do is promulgate insanity, but suffice it to say that even I, as a creative individual, could not possibly come up with this stuff. After he finished , I asked him: So youre saying that 200,000 health care workers are in on the plot? His reply: absolutely.
Nothing further to be said.

(9,312 posts)instead of using Lidocaine or Marcaine, use KCL and get it into a vein.......Then let him sit for 4-6 hours before calling 911. KCL is a byproduct naturally released with in the body after death, and they will never think it was an extra bolus........
Oh, and get him to pay for the office visit/procedure in advance......just for good measure.
When I was younger, I had a right wing Republican Dentist who would go non stop while he was working in my mouth, talking nothing but a constant drivel of Repub good, democrats bad shit......he knew full well that I couldn't say anything back to contradict his idiotic thinking......
I went to another dentist............

Putin is merely capitalizing on the opportunity of 'reaching' our far right wing, which is now far too heavily propagandized to bring back from the edge of the abyss. In fact they have begun lowering themselves down into the darkness.

The Lewis Powell Memo: A Corporate Blueprint to Dominate Democracy
Additional important history to know...
Alex Carey: Corporations and Propaganda
The Attack on Democracy
The 20th century, said Carey, is marked by three historic developments: the growth of democracy via the expansion of the franchise, the growth of corporations, and the growth of propaganda to protect corporations from democracy. Carey wrote that the people of the US have been subjected to an unparalleled, expensive, 3/4 century long propaganda effort designed to expand corporate rights by undermining democracy and destroying the unions. And, in his manuscript, unpublished during his life time, he described that history, going back to World War I and ending with the Reagan era. Carey covers the little known role of the US Chamber of Commerce in the McCarthy witch hunts of post WWII and shows how the continued campaign against "Big Government" plays an important role in bringing Reagan to power.
John Pilger called Carey "a second Orwell", Noam Chomsky dedicated his book, Manufacturing Consent, to him. And even though TUC Radio runs our documentary based on Carey's manuscript at least every two years and draws a huge response each time, Alex Carey is still unknown.
Given today's spotlight on corporations that may change. It is not only the Occupy movement that inspired me to present this program again at this time. By an amazing historic coincidence Bill Moyers and Charlie Cray of Greenpeace have just added the missing chapter to Carey's analysis. Carey's manuscript ends in 1988 when he committed suicide. Moyers and Cray begin with 1971 and bring the corporate propaganda project up to date.
This is a fairly complex production with many voices, historic sound clips, and source material. The program has been used by writers and students of history and propaganda. Alex Carey: Taking the Risk out of Democracy, Corporate Propaganda VS Freedom and Liberty with a foreword by Noam Chomsky was published by the University of Illinois Press in 1995.

From summer 2020, a story and important context almost entirely missing from news coverage:
Umbrella Man: Minneapolis suspect linked to white supremacists
He set fire to the Auto Zone.
Source: BBC
Police in Minneapolis say a man known as "Umbrella Man", seen damaging property in the city during the Black Lives Matter protests, has links to white supremacy groups.
People took to the city's streets following the death there in May of George Floyd, an unarmed black man.
Police say Umbrella Man helped turn the largely peaceful protests violent.
Footage of the man wearing a mask and carrying an umbrella while smashing shop windows went viral online.
In the video, taken on 27 May, Umbrella Man can be seen breaking the windows with a hammer as people approach him trying to get him to stop. He then walks away from the scene.

So now he uses a net while hes removing a crown that he just checked for fit. Needless to say, I didnt say a thing, even with the net.

(13,070 posts)I don't doubt this retired professional, like many others who've fallen for rightwing conspiracy theories, were intelligent enough to succeed in challenging professional careers.
That's what's so insidious about the poisonous lies spread on the internet which exploit "conservative" ideology to mislead millions of otherwise normal people into beliefs that defy logic and credulity.
The lies and poison are knowingly instigated to serve nefarious interests whether it be foreign powers, domestic political operatives, greedy fat cats, or nihilistic internet warriors.

Make sure who ever it is in the office that makes the appointments has the list in hand to check, and make it near impossible to find an appointment time for that person. Better yet put a sign on the door and inside that says no politics or conspiracy theories are to be discussed in the office and if they object tell them its your office and you will abide by my rules or they can leave. Kind of like a parent might say this is my house and you will follow my rules!

(14,097 posts)about the high level of professionalism. I have noticed now if I go to a doctors office with a tv, it is always on hgtv or food network. I recently went to an imaging center for ct scan and they had the tv on food network. They, in past years, would have it on fox or cnn. Think they finally realized maybe it wasnt good for patients blood pressure 😐

(82,753 posts)I started, years ago, making it a habit to complain if I went into a business establishment - ANY kind of business establishment. And if they had Pox Noise on their TV in a waiting room area, I either asked to ha e the channel changed, or, sometimes Id just do it myself (particularly if I was the only one in the waiting room/area).
Sometimes Id even pull out the I was a news reporter for years, and the lies they spread on that channel are seriously offensive to me as a professional truth-teller.
I wouldnt tolerate it back then, and I STILL dont tolerate it now.
Ive found that most proprietors are willing to accommodate a paying customer (or a perceived paying customer). The only time it failed was at a restaurant at the Camarillo Airport where the maitre d confessed that the owner insisted on keeping Pox Noise on the big screen TV on the wall in the entryway of the restaurant. It was the first thing you saw as you approached whoever was there seating people. And I thanked the maitre d and asked him to tell the owner how he lost a customer and all her friends permanently - for THAT one reason. CONSEQUENCES!!! CONSEQUENCES FOR BAD BEHAVIOR!!!
And for the record, Ive always been polite about it. Always. With a smile. It can disarm, at times.

(6,287 posts)successful attorneys who have the same beliefs you mention about your patient. You would think someone trained in the law would recognize the threat to our democracy posed by Trump and could recognize the lies about the pandemic. Actually, I started to notice just how many of fellow attorneys from a solid blue state like NJ supported Ws presidency which also baffled me as the lies started in ernest with his administration. The Obama came along and you would think that they would recognize his brilliance even if you didnt agree with his policies. I reasoned that they were racists. My brother-in-law is an uneducated but extremely successful builder and is worth a lot of money. He has gone full Q to the point I stopped engaging with him before the 2020 election. He did say one thing that I now believe to be true. He said that Obama presidency was the worse thing to happen to race relations in our country. I sneered at him but time has proven he was correct. While we on the left saw Obama for what he is, a brilliant, moral man who epitomizes the American dream and saved our country, the Right couldnt handle having a black man in the Oval Office and it drove them over a cliff to the point they would support the likes of Trump who embodies everything that is wrong with our country.

Maybe these hypocrites will learn their lessons one day, but I suspect not.
However, one bright spot with regards to these idiots...they are being taken down right and left as we speak. They are being fired, their attacks against minorities (Asians lately) are being countered and Asians are being protected by a majority of Americans (e.g., in NYC), numerous lawsuits to overthrow these ridiculous and numerous attempts by the repugs to restrict voter participation in the election process, etc.

I may sound like a broken record here -- perhaps an old LP from the 1960s -- but I consider Dr. Bandy Lee's newest book essential reading in order to put the insanity we are witnessing into context.
