I've gotten to where I cannot watch the local news anymore. It's nothing but mass shootings, immigration problems, climate crisis, habitat destruction, suicides, more murder, murder trials, murderers on the loose, horrible traffic accidents, train crashes, murder, stupid GOP, murder, and more murder.
I wish someone would start some good news programs. You see a few on CBS Sunday Morning and at the end of every national news broadcast, but it's not enough.
Sorry to complain, but I just cannot watch murder, murder, murder any longer. And why can't MSNBC ever have any actual NEWS on instead of Chris Hayes covering what Joy Reid just covered, and Rachel covering it again, and Lawrence O'Donnell covering it again?
I am getting old and cranky.

(29,675 posts)more and more advertisements??? And that moment of nature is like only 10 - 15 seconds. Still enjoy it, but hate the ads, and what happened to the calendar??? I miss that.

(9,022 posts)The Moment of Nature should be re-named the "glimpse of nature". Thank goodness for DVR'S too, so you can scan thru the ads at high speed.
But they consistently have excellent human interest stories, with just a touch of news.

(100,082 posts)And I thank God every day that MF45 isn't in charge anymore, I can only imagine the hateful shit that would come out of his mouth about the George Floyd trial.
So it could be worse but it still sucks.
It could be so, so much worse if Trump were still president.
We've been going out for more walks lately, and recording every stand-up comedian we can find.

(16,184 posts)Was watching NHK today (Japan). Simple stories and profiles of ordinary people people with small shops that make different food products from scratch. Stories about small meaningful things in peoples lives neighbors reuniting after fleeing a town in the tsunami, to drink tea together; one of whom was a woman who had lost her husband, she remembered being at the tea shop together when she was alive, and opening a tea shop as a way to reconnect with a lost part of her life.
Also, the earnestness and enthusiasm is delightful.
NHK was full of reminders of the beauty of being human. US TV is full of reminders of the ugliness, brutality and shallowness of being human and quite often of being American.
Why? To teach us all to hate and fear each other? Ugh.
