We all know that on Tuesday night, Romney will lie his ass off about each and every subject.
Joe Biden showed us how to crush a liar. Unfortunately, President Obama can't use the same tactics for two reasons: 1. He's the president and as such, he cannot emulate Biden's style; and 2. If he comes on too strong, he'll be accused of being "An angry black man." (This second reason really sucks, but we still live in a country that is far too bigoted.)
I really have no idea how President Obama is going to handle that lying sack of crap on Tuesday night. But I sure hope his advisers have figured it out. And I sure hope Romney is exposed for the empty, despicable man he is
So what's your opinion? What can we expect to see Tuesday night?

(1,979 posts)for everything that he said in front of 6 million people on Oct 3.
Mitt will undoubtedly start changing his story and Obama has to refer back to the debate less that 2 weeks earlier. Keep pounding from there and by all means bring up Sensata and Bain and Mass. and abortion shift etc.

Does anyone know who the moderator is going to be?

(657 posts)When Rmoney comes out with something opposite of what he's been saying for years. The President can say, like Joe Biden about the letter from Ryan, it's up on our website you saying such and such. Rmoney won't know how to answer that and people watching can look at it right then. I don't know but it worked for Biden, Ryan couldn't deny it, Biden said its on my website.
It's hard to argue with someone who is lying. Lies sometimes sound better than the truth to some.

(4,482 posts)The President should do better with the town hall format, but he must challenge Gov. Romney on his lies and spin.
Confront Gov. Romney on his 47% comments, and ask him why he has chosen as his running mate a man who is so devoted to Ayn Rand. The public (especially evangelical Christians) needs to know just how un-Christian Ayn Rand's ideas were.
Unfortunately, Candy Crowley will be the moderator, so he will have to stand up to her, too.

(696 posts)Advice to the President is to "FROM THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE DEBATE" . Put Romney on the defensive by reminding America:
"Our country is built on the success of her citizens. We do not begrudge successful Americans, we encourage and welcome it. But THAT wealth HAS to pass the smell test. My fellow Americans: Governor Romney is the first nominee to run for the office of Presidency of the United States who has not only NOT shown his 12 years of taxes as released by all Presidents in the last 50 years as also advocated by the Governor's own father but that he is the first candidate to seek the United States Presidency with Swiss Bank accounts ..... IN TOW !!!! My fellow Americans ....... does that pass the smell test for you?

(696 posts)Follow the Elizabeth Warren model she used in her last debating performance against Scott Brown in the MA Senate Debate.
Whenever it was her turn to speak for 2 minutes:
45 seconds > attack opponent
30 seconds > quick defense
45 seconds > answer question at hand
She kept aggressively on her opponent - called out his "incorrect" (LIES) statements .... every time .... WITH A RESPECTFUL TONE

(5,810 posts)humor does not have to mean Obama is over the top, rude or "the angry black man". And besides, if we can't see a little ire from Obama, we're all being too sensitive. He should be irate and not afraid to call this horrible man (Romney) out on his lies. Romney is trying to portray himself as a man of FAITH and a man with integrity. He also wants us to believe that his business background is what is needed to guide this country back to a healthier economy. The thin skeleton of an outline for his policies (sans any details) is enough to let many of us know that he is selling snake oil. It's smoke and mirrors and we've been through that before.
What has Obama got to lose at this point? He is losing ground and his supporters want to see spunk and fire in the belly from him. I think if we saw some of that, the undecided voters would see it, too. We want a leader who doesn't just want the crown and the title (like Romney does) but who wants to lead us and inspire us to be a better nation and people. We want someone who genuinely cares about ALL of us and not just the ones he deems worthy of his help. Lies and distortions by Romney must be met with the truth and a sense of indignation from Obama that it is NOT acceptable to lie to the American people in order to win their trust and their vote.

(9,385 posts)The questions will come from undecided voters in the audience, so Mittens will be BSing them when he lies and it won't look good if he just dodges the question. I'm pretty sure Obama would have an opportunity (even if short) to rebut. If not, he can weave a rebuttal into a later answer (refer back to it).
Obama will have an easier time staying engaged while answering the votesrs questions because it will be more conversational. The only thing I'd caution him to do is keep it that way and not divert into wonky sermons. Stay responsive to the question and focused on the questioner (or the camera), in other words.
I predict Obama will do pretty well at that debate. The problem will be the third one, which will be again a podium debate -- but some good news, that will be on foreign policy which is the hardest topic for Rmoney while good for Obama.
