We were okay all day after receiving our second vaccinations, but going into the evening flu-like symptoms and body aches began. By the middle of the night we were both shaking, sweating, had horrible headaches and could not sleep.
I feel better this a.m. (tired, sore and foggy) after taking aspirin and a little Xanax, but I wanted to share and get some other confirmations that this is normal.

(61,695 posts)(traumatically, I should add) COVID-19 the disease (a friend who had COVID-19 two months ago).
I had several very mild symptoms, starting 24 hours after the 2nd shot, and lasting several hours.

(2,220 posts)Mine started four hours after the shot with muscle soreness and a little dizziness. The dizziness went away pretty quickly, and I felt okay the rest of the evening. Woke up early the next morning with severe muscle and joint pain. My joints felt weak, especially my knees. I was cold. I was also crazy because I decided to go for my morning walk to see if I could get loosened up.
I barely made a half mile, trudged home, took Tylenol and collapsed on the sofa. My heart rate was a good 10-15 beats above normal. Took my temp, and it was 99.2. I had chills. I spent the rest of the warm spring day on the sofa in my heaviest fleece pajamas under a fleece blanket. My fever hovered in the 99s despite taking Tylenol. It also didnt do shit for the headache, joint, or muscle aches. Oh..and everything I ate ran right through me. I couldnt read, couldnt knit, couldnt sleep.
Exactly 24 hours from the time I felt the first wave of dizziness the day before, the fever broke, the chills went away, and the soreness lessened dramatically. I put on seasonally appropriate clothes and opened the windows.
I am now six days out. The joint and muscle pain have lessened every day. My digestive system is still a little wonky. The biggest thing I have noticed is my sleep has been very poor. Last night was the most normal sleep Ive had since I got the shot.
It has been an experience, but Id do it again if I needed to. Much easier than the alternative!

(33,135 posts)The things I have to look forward to on top of it turning out growing a tail was a hoax.
The only oddity I have to report thus far is about 12 hours after the first shot, the arm opposite from where I had the shot felt like the shot had been given there. Weird.
I believe this can be attributed to the fact the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are different in form from any I've had before and not to the COVID antibody inducing portions of the shots.

(5,275 posts)My Sister had the Moderna shots and had a rough 2nd day.
I had my two Pfizer shots 2/11 and 3/4 and had zero side effects. Might have been luck could be due to my Type O blood.
For the vast majority of us it precludes us from getting Covid so thats a very good thing.

(32,634 posts)Everything was fine, other than muscle soreness in my arm. I started feeling light-headed later in the day but I'm not sure if it was from the vaccine. It could have been from the fact that I hadn't eaten anything. Ate some lunch, laid down for a nap and then I felt great after that.
It sure beats getting Covid, that's all I can say.

(17,425 posts)Symptom duration was about 36 hours.
Total body aches, chills, fever.
Actually, it was a good feeling in a way, knowing that you are not sick, but rather, it is your immune system reacting.

(18,890 posts)Felt fine, but a bit dizzy for 12 hrs after vax, then 5-6 hrs of flu hell. Tired and a little shaky the morning of the 30th - stayed in bed sleeping off and on. Yesterday I awoke feeling absolutely normal.

(7,473 posts)I was so exhausted that I spent the better part of 2 days on the couch. I had the shot at 2PM and was fine but the next AM I woke very early and found it difficult to go downstairs. Went directly to the couch with no energy. Lasted for almost 2 full days. No aches or pains. Just knocked me off my feet.
