(12,449 posts)Gu says one thing... people jump to retweet and ignore the facts.
When all the next of kin have been contacted, we will know the rest.

(12,449 posts)Gu has a wide reach and provided inaccurate info for 10's of thousands...
The other guy tweeted and informed... dozens?
Gu had 13k+ likes as of that screenshot.
That means 13k+ people believed him. Now count the people who've seen the re-tweet. And the people online who've seen the deceptive tweet.

(12,449 posts)We don't know ALL their names BECAUSE NEXT OF KIN hasn't been contacted yet.
It's against policies (perhaps laws) to name victims before NOK have been contacted.
In this case, NOK may be more difficult or time consuming to contact.

(21,768 posts)Are we assuming all people working in massage parlors are sex workers?

(244 posts)Do they even know that? There are thousands of legitimate massage parlors. I just booked my first massage in a year. Perfectly legitimate and at least 20 of them in my town.
The misinformation has to stop. Even if it is true, its still tragic.

(34,136 posts)Of those who died, six were Asian and two were White, Cherokee County sheriff's officials said in a joint news conference with Atlanta police on Wednesday.
All six Asian victims were women, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported earlier, citing authorities.
The four killed in the shooting near Woodstock were Delaina Ashley Yaun, 33, of Acworth; Paul Andre Michels, 54, of Atlanta; Xiaojie Yan, 49, of Kennesaw; and Daoyou Feng, 44.
The injured survivor was Elcias R. Hernandez-Ortiz, 30, of Acworth, authorities said.
Police didn't immediately release the names of the four people killed at the two Atlanta spas.
Four of those killed were of Korean ethnicity, according to South Korea's foreign ministry, which said it was in contact with its consulate in Atlanta.

As said above, the names of the other victims will be released once their relatives are notified. My thoughts are with all the relatives that know and those that are worried their loved ones are the other victims.
