(1,402 posts)I have always said, the media is the cause of a lot of this violence. They sensationalize the violence and of course they never blame the perpetrator. That is why I like Rachel for news. CNN is especially bad for this. MSNBC not so much.

(9,959 posts)... I sample FOX, but I haven't the past couple of days. I had not seen that yearbook picture. I know I should not judge a person on their looks alone, but I find the man creepy-looking. Granted, Mug Shots are not taken under good circumstances, so he is going to look creepy... the beard, hair style and wardrobe... now, the yearbook picture looks like a completely different person.
... I worked on a newspaper and pictures are one of the ways journalists editorialize while remaining nonpartisan. Selecting an attractive or unattractive photo of a Person can tilt an otherwise objective story one way or another. Also, the caption, subheads, or pulled BLURBS can point in a direction... most readers only look at the picture and a few excerpts.
