Footage that had circulated widely on social media showed Rehl at the forefront of a mob of Proud Boys many of whom have already been charged with crimes tied to the insurrection in Washington Jan. 6.

The FBI arrested Zach Rehl, the president of the Philadelphia Proud Boys, at his Port Richmond home on Wednesday on charges he plotted with prominent leaders of the organization to attack the Capitol on Jan. 6.

Agents arrived at the home just after 8 a.m. and took Rehl, 35, away in handcuffs shortly afterward, neighbors said.

Specific charges against him have not yet been released. But sources familiar with the investigation say he has been indicted alongside two previously arrested Proud Boys leaders with conspiring to obstruct law enforcement at the Capitol and the Congressional certification of 2020 election.

A spokesperson for the FBI in Philadelphia declined to comment, saying only that agents were at Rehl’s address Wednesday morning conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity.
