Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., on Tuesday demanded that the Pentagon withdraw National Guard troops from the U.S. Capitol after accusing a delegate leading members of the Guam National Guard of trying to "ambush" her with treats and factual information.
Del. Michael San Nicolas, a nonvoting Democrat who represents the U.S. island territory of Guam in Congress, led a group of Guam National Guard members stationed at the Capitol to Greene's office on Monday with cookies and guidebooks after the freshman Republican had earlier referred to Guam as a foreign country.
Greene, who was not present at the time of the visit, responded by sending a letter to top Pentagon officials alleging a "dangerous and troubling trend" of lawmakers using members of the armed forces to "intimidate civilians, harass members of Congress and their staff and attack conservative journalists for expressing their views." The letter claims that San Nicolas and two dozen troops tried to "ambush my office unannounced and subsequently video record my staff without solicitation or consent."

Greene drew criticism earlier this month for describing the U.S. territory as a foreign country in comments she apparently made in a side room to a small group at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Orlando last month after being snubbed from the main stage.

My gawd, the stress that must put somebody through! Imagine what might have happened if the rioters took that tack instead of bear spray and lies...mayhem! Bloody mayhem!

(3,531 posts)in a single statement. Madge claims she was harassed and intimidated for expressing her views. Well, aside from the fact that having cookies brought is hardly what I would label harassment, her view that Guam is a foreign country is not in fact a view at all; it is a fallacy. Welcome to the GOP, where facts and views need not be tethered to any basis in reality.

If it hasn't been yet, it will be now that this letter has been sent.
Tucker tonight:
'Was Biden involved in sending those SOLDIERS to MTG's office? Just because she's not polite to the Left? That's what many people are asking tonight, and if he did, I think we have to consider whether that's an impeachable offense!'
Blah blah blah ...

(3,666 posts)She just gets worse and worse. The video is actually kind of cute of the Guam NG ambushing her office. I don't get it. Does she mean that anyone who comes to her office should expect to be attacked. Hmmm... I so hope her fellow republicans are proud of her. I, unfortunately, expect that her constituents who voted for her are. What an F'd up human being she is.

(90,773 posts)Typical right-wing logic.
Right-wingers (and all republicans are right-wingers to one degree or another) storm the Capitol, engage in insurrection, engage in theft and destruction of federal property, threaten the lives of members of Congress and the V.P. of the U.S., cause the deaths of fellow insurrectionists, murder a cop, cause such emotional strain that two more cops commit suicide, and somehow she and other right-wingers are the victims of some culture war?
That leaving in place protection from those who would commit insurrection is somehow an act?
That protection in place due to credible threats against President Biden on the day of his inauguration is an act?
She's an idiot and does not know exactly who is and isn't an American citizen so she pitches a fit.
She supposedly respects all service people - except those from Guam. Because someone who respects members of America's military would know - KNOW - Guam is part of America and their citizens are Americans.
Same with Puerto Rico.
Same as the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Northern Mariana Islanders serve in the Guam National Guard but they are birthright citizens of the United States.
American Samoa - citizens are U.S. nationals and they can serve in the U.S. military - and they do so in record high numbers.
And, to add, during my time with the U.S. Army - I've met U.S. military soldiers who were from Jamaica, Wales, and South Africa. None of them U.S. citizens but still serving in the U.S. Army. They were all planning to become citizens at some point.
So fuck that ignorant blowhard.
