(34,111 posts)were Peck, English and Scottish, and Clancy, Irish. I am mostly Swiss and German but those other genes pull hard. Just spent an entire week listening to the Celtic podcast. Love being a small part of the clans.

(16,646 posts)My brother had a more detailed DNA test than most of the simple ones being sold. He sent this out to the "Klan". The translation ahead of time is we're really OLD irish.

(14,130 posts)Great-grandparents on my Mom's side were born in Ireland. I'm going to guess they were Potato Famine refugees. My Grandmother's hair was a beautiful red when she was younger!

(10,831 posts)I'm anticipating a chow down of corn beef, cabbage and boiled potatoes, carrots on the side. My husband will order the Irish Cottage pie (Shepherd's Pie). The beef and cabbage is one of my favorite dishes. And I'm donning the green today.
Btw, my Nana had a load of stories. The post reminded me of her childhood recollection of signs inside store windows:
No Dogs or Irish.
What a world! Now everyone wants to be Irish.

We Irish, my past family included - poor refugees from the Potato Famine in the 1840's and 50's, went through the bigotry and hate a few centuries ago...hang in there.
