Jared Kushner's Splashy WSJ Op-Ed is a Sign He Wants to Be Taken Seriously. He Should Not Be

By Tommy ChristopherMar 17th, 2021, 11:43 am

Former First Son-in-Law Jared Kushner is making a bid for post-Trump legitimacy with a sprawling op-ed in which he offers praise and a whole lot of unsolicited advice to President Joe Biden. Kushner is clearly seeking to style himself as a foreign policy statesman along the lines of a Zbigniew Brzezinski or a Henry Kissinger, but with chops that barely qualify him to write policy for the International House of Pancakes.

Published in the Wall Street Journal, the piece is a transparent attempt to launder slobbering praise of the Trump administration with trite and obvious analysis of the Biden administration’s path forward on China, Israel, and Iran, and to launder the thick layer of shame that four years in the Trump orbit has encased Kushner in like raw sewage.

But nobody should be helping him wash it off. Let it dry. Let it solidify. Let Kushner stand frozen in time as a monument to every unqualified blob of privilege who ever failed upward, leaving a swath of fetid wreckage in his path.

Kushner epitomized privileged nepotism even before he joined the White House, using his family wealth to climb to a perch as owner and publisher of a newspaper that would experience a rash of resignations when it endorsed Trump — whose family Kushner married into — for president. But he took nepotism to 11 when he was named a senior White House adviser, and handed a portfolio of issues that would be daunting for an experienced hand, let alone a neophyte who lacks the gravity to avoid being upstaged by a lamp.

Kushner and First Daughter Ivanka Trump also came to symbolize complicity with a president who ripped migrant families apart, incited violence with overtly racist language and policies, and closed out his presidency by cheering on a violent insurrection that he sparked. The couple found a never-ending string of journalists willing to act as publicists by publishing blind quotes about how “concerned” they both were about these things, but thankfully there were few takers.

Donald is old and won't be around that much longer anyway, so there's that.

Would love to see both of them get put away, though, along with Princess Sparkle Pony and her ugly brothers.

Now they’re just as rabid right-wing as Fox News. And don’t forget they’re the media outlet that published an op ed denigrating Dr. Jill Biden’s degree and trying make her appear a fake. That one backfired, but they’ll be supportive of an idiot like Kushner, with no brains and no credentials, claiming to be an international expert.

Um. That's not how to works at all Kush.

He's confused positional power with real intellect and leadership.

No one....I mean NO ONE...can offer up one substantial examaple of what he accomplished as a presidential advisor.

He so, so badly wants to stay in that Davos crowd.

exactly WHY we should take this puerile young sperm dripping seriously? He has done nothing at all in his lifetime except marry a small-time crime boss's daughter.

...My nickname for him — JarJar — has fit him like a glove.
He made a mockery of our nation worldwide. And now he’s trying to springboard to his next grift, hustle, scam or greed-driven shady deal.

And, I stopped reading articles from the Wall Street Urinal years ago!
