Why is a certain "profile" of perp recast as the victim time and time again.

Correspondingly, why is a certain "profile" of victim recast as villain, as in they are "not innocent" time and time again?

"It was a really bad day for him and this is what he did..." is a strange way for the Cherokee County Sheriff to describe the Atlanta gunman's murder spree. #gapol

I mean you can't put up 200 plus years of chattel slavery, then another 200 plus years of institutional discrimination and the concerted effort to prevent people with a certain skin color from establishing wealth structures, pride in their identity, and full belonging to society. I mean that is just excuses...right!?!

But you know, some guy availing himself of services for sexual gratification, then actually blaming the victims he murdered for making him feel bad about it, you know, poor guy. How did he survive in such a cruel oppressive world?

We all face adversities in life and many of us have disadvantages and certain privileges. As many others here have said well already, the problem that is well illustrated is that this guy has the sympathy of law enforcement after engaging in a cruel and heinous act. They can bring themselves to recognize struggles within this guy, but when there is a Black person, who is brutalized and killed for committing some petty crime, or no crime at all, the portrayal is much different, and there is no sympathy, like the Black person had it coming.

Rinse, repeat. But a Muslim shooter means the entire Muslim community is to blame.

I've known so many people harmed by fundamentalist religious beliefs.

This guy is not a victim. He's a fucking terrorist who represents everything evil about the belief system he was raised in.

There are many harmful religious beliefs I will NEVER respect.

There are too many damned churches in the business of crushing the human spirit rather than celebrating it.
