Call Congress right fuckin' now and tell your reps to reauthorize the VAWA.

The Violence Against Women Act has to be renewed every few years and actually expired two years ago. It will get a hearing today. House switchboard is 202-224-3121, or text RESIST to 50409 to use Resistbot to send your rep a fax/email/letter.

1. Why I do I see these sort of posts...Congress includes right wingers who don't do this.

There are only certain things that can be done using reconciliation and it looks like we may get some filibuster reform but I doubt very much this is possible at the moment. We need to get an infrastructure bill and and public option for the ACA...that can likely be done in reconciliation. We also need to get the voting rights bill through and Manchin has indicated that may be one where he is willing to drop the filibuster for. The rest will have to wait.

I hope that means he is also involved in seeing it reauthorized.
