The Biden Ryan Debate

The debate between Biden and Ryan has been yet another example about the self delusional world inhabited by Republicans.

We see examples everyday were Vulture or Voucher or both tell a blatant lie about one thing or the other. What is not quite as obvious, but are just as frequent, are examples of how pretty much *all* Republicans live in a self delusional bubble where up is down, right is wrong and good is evil.

It was obvious to any reasonable person that Biden won the debate. It wasn't even close. Biden controlled the discussion, refuted everything out of Ryan's mouth and to Democrats and Independents was obviously the winner. However to Republicans, Biden was mean and disrespectful to Ryan and in their mind actually lost.

This is how Republicans have behaved for years now. Anything that does not fit with their world view is either ignored or denied. Scientific proof and fact checkers mean nothing, Romney's campaign even admitted that "We Will Not 'Be Dictated By Fact-Checkers."

When someone is willing to damage the country they profess to love as long as by doing so they damage the black president that they hate with every fiber of their being, when they're willing to deny any fact and willing to believe any lie then there is nothing that reasonable and rational people can do to convince them otherwise.

The good side of all this is that the reason rational argument makes no headway with Republicans is that in the end they are older, whiter, and a bit better off than the average demographic and in the past old white men were in fact "better" than everyone else. They got the best jobs not because they were the smartest or the most talented but because of who they were and who they knew.

That time is passing and these people simply cannot give up the power, prestige and position that they have enjoyed essentially forever. So if a little thing like facts, reality and truth get in their way it's no big deal to them, they simply deny it.

The good part of this is that people like this are dying off and soon will become an insignificant minority, which is what scares them to death, that they will actually have to compete with everyone else on an equal footing. I bet the whites in South Africa behaved similarly with the ending of apartheid.

While I do agree that Obama could have and should have done better, should have called out Romney's lies for what they were but the thing is in the eyes of Republicans no matter what he did they would have never admitted that he won, instead it would have been that Obama was mean and disrespectful to Romney.

There will come a day when a racist party can no longer win by appealing to only a majority of the white vote and by suppressing any vote that's not white and privileged. That day cannot come soon enough for me.

It had to be done. Someone had to do it sometime.

Now, by ridiculing or criticizing Biden, these jerks are just maneuvering to try to con us into getting distracted and allowing them to go on with the lies again as usual. They figure, maybe it was just a fluke? a freak occurrence? That's what these critiques are all about. Dumping on Biden is a lie, so there it is, the lie-du-jour. Maybe it'll work with us again, as it always has. Maybe we'll take the bait and follow their lead, and let their lies skew our judgement.

I think they're whistling past the graveyard with that shit. I don't think it's going to fly anymore. Biden showed us a pathway, and I think those of us who are so inclined should use the hell out of it. Enough with the damn lies and unreality, already. We have to make it U-N-A-C-C-E-P-T-A-B-L-E. Not accepted. We have to start sometime and the time is now, and with this incident, this fact. The fact is, Biden smoked that smarmy wimp.
