Absolutely painless. Never felt the needle. Feeling fine so far, we'll see what the next few days brings. I had no reaction at all to the first shot.
Update: Saturday about 22 hrs after shot, Still feeling okay, no fever.
2nd Update: 32 hours after the shot, finally a little soreness at the injection site if touched hard.
I should mention I'm not gloating or bragging about what an easy time I've had. I just see a lot of people posting about having some negative symptoms. Good for them for informing us and for the most part letting us know that their symptoms were very short term. This is good information. I just thought it would also be good to document that some have less problems with the vaccine to round out the general assessment and maybe assure people that for the most part there is not much to worry about and maybe lessen some anxiety some may be having. Best of luck to anyone getting vaccinated.

(11,965 posts)After. Then she had low grade fever for a few days. They say the stronger the reaction the more antibodies you have so its a good sign.

(2,424 posts)I got mine two weeks ago. Nothing. About three hours later, my arm felt like I was punched by Ali and Fraiser. I felt feverish and headachy and tired the next day and didnt want to get out of bed. Tylenol was enough to knock the fever out for a few hours. Drank tons of water and was normal about four days later. Plan to rest on days two and three.

But I've been told several times that younger people may have a more severe reaction to the second dose, while older folks have it less so.
(Having just turned 70, and being scheduled for my second Pfizer shot in a couple of weeks, I have a vested interest in the veracity of those claims.)
53. I got mine through work since I do public safety stuff and my employer offered me one. My second shingles was rough, too. Just be prepared to rest, use Tylenol if you need anything, and know it passes within two or three days.

(35,177 posts)Had almost no reaction to their Pfizer shots. My father reacted more to his than my mother, as is typical. She felt nothing from the first; he has a slight sore arm. She has a sore arm from the second one (she could find the site of the location), my father's arm was more sore - he could not sleep on it that night.
From comparisons I've seen, Pfizer comes with a slightly higher risk of anaphalaxis, but a lower risk of run-of-the-mill side effects.
I get my first Pfizer tomorrow . .

(18,402 posts)Second shot this Wednesday morning: several hours of nothing, piece of cake. Then ... headache started 5 or 6 hours later (improved after conking out for a half hour or so); chills started around 9 pm; up several times during night with chills and muscle aches; all day Thursday, fever, chills, muscle weakness, fatigue (zonked out several times, and I never, ever sleep during the day), headache. Started to feel better around 9 pm. Feeling pretty much back to normal this morning.
It was not fun, but it ended. Well worth 36 hours of blechh.

(27,005 posts)He had a terrible reaction to the first jab - said it was a total flashback to when he had the actual Virus. He's well prepared for what MIGHT be in store for him. I'm hoping he'll have a much easier post jab, this time. Last time it lasted about 36 hours.
I've received my first Pfizer jab last Thursday and go back in 2 weeks for the 2nd. I had absolutely NO reaction to the first but I'm not letting down my guard.

(25,042 posts)on getting a time slot, was up at 5:00 AM two nights ago all the way through 8:30 AM trying to get the appointment on the CVS site for Maryland and watching each town that was giving the shots turn from "Available to Fully Booked" and felt like I was playing the Mega Millions and Powerball to see if I would win.............long story short nope............but glad to see and read people are getting there shots............

(24,590 posts)I do live in a small town, and my family doctor runs the family medicine clinic for the hospital. They actually called us a few months ago and set up both appointments for my wife and myself. I just chalked it up to my doctor looking out for her patients. Only glitch was I was scheduled for last Saturday but the storms and freezing in the Midwest caused a temporary supply problem and I was rescheduled for today.
Very efficient operation here, but they are probably dealing with few thousand people, not hundreds of thousands like other places are.

(25,042 posts)for the shot, wait when they bring it down to 55 year old's.
I live along the Maryland / Delaware border and you cannot go into lets say Delaware to get the shot, because, well you are taking the shot away from someone in Delaware if you are a resident in Maryland and along the corridor of I-95 from Washington up to New York is around 35/45 million people last time I looked, so .........
The saving grace for folks that have gotten the shots, they have the card so they can get a booster if the variants get out of control, which I think it will do.............its nice to see people are getting the vaccine, one small step to humanity again........

(5,185 posts)For the first one I had a sore arm, mild headache/ aches and malaise, I felt feverish but no fever. I did have flushing and palpitations right after but they passed rapidly. I am not sure if that was from the vaccination though. I am worried I may have a worse reaction this time. Overall it was on the mild side as far as vaccinations go for me.
