Johnson's plan backfires bigly!

Democrats!

?s=20

Dems seem to have outplayed GOP on the Covid delay. After the all-night reading, @ChrisVanHollen simply got up, proposed shortening the debate from 20 hours to 3 and no Republican including @RonJohnsonWI was around to contest. In the end, the dramatic Bill reading delayed nothing

It happened at about 2 a.m. The 2 of them hung around that long, waiting for the reading to finish and Johnson to leave the floor.

No doubt they are going to throw out a lot of worthless and destructive amendments which will get voted down unless they are actually good things, which I doubt, because the republicans will be doing it to delay things

So give it your best shot. We can figure a countermove if this is how you have to play to win. Ya big galoop. (With credit to Bugs Bunny, I think.)

The Democrats absolutely need to have someone study up on the arcana of the rules of order and use them as a cudgel against the Republicans. For far too long, Democrats have been steam-rolled by procedural shenanigans and for whatever reason not using those very tactics against Republicans: "There goes Senator Vaporbrain; there's no Republicans in the chamber at all is there? We still in session? Great. I ask unanimous consent to limit debate time to three hours." "Without objection, so ordered." "See y'all tomor--er later today."

We need to fight this like we’re literally on war footing, because with opposition like this, that’s exactly where we ARE.

I'm calculating that the (D)'s gained 6 hours on the (R)'s stall tactics.

Way to go.

Did you hear what Schumer said this morning? After thanking the clerks and the staff, he said "I hope our friend from Wisconsin enjoyed his Thursday evening!" (forget if he said "enjoyed" or "had a nice", but he zinged him anyway)

20 hours debate vs 3 hours of debate +11 hours of reading.

I have no doubt Voterama will be long, but it's not stopping anything and the Reps will regret it, they're making it clear they want to stop a bill that 78% of the country supports.
