Hyatt Calls CPAC Stage That Looked Like a Nazi Rune 'Abhorrent'

It sounds like Hyatt Hotels wished it had never agreed to host this weekend’s Conservative Political Action Conference. In an unusually honest corporate statement issued late Sunday, after Donald Trump took to the stage at the conference’s finale, the hotel group said it was “extremely disappointed by the disrespect many individuals involved in the event showed to our colleagues” following reports that attendees became abusive when asked to wear masks and socially distance. The hotel group also called symbols of hate “abhorrent” after the design of the CPAC stage was compared to a Norse rune used by Nazis during World War Two. Hyatt clarified that it had no involvement in the stage design, adding: “We take the concern raised about the prospect of symbols of hate being included in the stage design at CPAC 2021 very seriously as all such symbols are abhorrent and unequivocally counter to our values as a company.” Matt Schlapp, American Conservative Union chair, dismissed the comparisons to the Nazi rune as “outrageous and slanderous.”

1. Matt Schlapp should sue anyone questioning the rune symbol and it's connection to Nazis.

It would be enlightening to learn who proposed this design, and who all supported using this symbol

how does it differ? How could the stage have been more "badly" designed so as to more closely resemble the rune?

Invite a bunch of unhousebroken puppies in, you're going to get piddled on. Don't rent to these fuckers anymore. You know what they are. They've shown you personally, in no uncertain terms.

7. As CPAC dismisses claims that its stage resembled a Nazi insignia, Hyatt calls hate symbols 'abhorre
Mon Mar 1, 2021, 05:00 PM

Images of the CPAC stage went viral this weekend as many noted a resemblance to the Odal or Othala Rune, a symbol emblazoned on some Nazi uniforms. The Anti-Defamation League has classified the insignia as a hate symbol that has been adopted by modern day white supremacists.

CPAC’s organizers vehemently denied any link between the stage design and the Nazi symbology, calling the criticism “outrageous and slanderous.”....

As the controversy continued on Sunday, Hyatt Hotels said in a statement that it had addressed the concerns with the conference and denounced any use of hate symbols.

“We take the concern raised about the prospect of symbols of hate being included in the stage design at CPAC 2021 very seriously as all such symbols are abhorrent and unequivocally counter to our values as a company,” said Hyatt, which had faced pointed criticism for hosting the event.

The hotel noted it allowed the event to continue after organizers “told us that any resemblance to a symbol of hate is unintentional.”

10. it's the triangle cutout

there's no meaningful purpose for that cutout except to complete the rune design.

If it were solid, I might say, coincidence.

Well that and the also purposeless white part that's only there for one reason too.

I have seen round stages, triangle stages, rectangles, and squares. All manner of stages. The design of the CPAC stage was deliberate OR CPAC people are the stupidest, most obtuse people ever! The second part is probably accurate, but the still did the stage on purpose.

They appear to court both party's but seem to favor the Q'Party a little more than the Democratic Party.

I guess time will tell.
