The only thing the GOP regrets is that they didn't succeed in killing their enemies and overthrowing our Democracy.

abusive relationships we talked about in my psychology classes.
usually starts with verbal abuse, put-downs or controls
after that comes the physical abuse
resulting in one locking the other out or barricaded away.
the locked out one then cries and pleads for forgiveness
the other accepts even knowing that things really wont change
and the cycle begins again unless one has the courage to walk away,
either that or the ultimate abuse occurs, death of one by the other

Trump Lost Everything for the ReTHUGs and yet they still want him.

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2021/01/republicans-lost-everything/617564/

In four years, Trump has led the Republican Party from unified control of Washington to the wilderness.

I am now convinced that they are still trying to over throw the new Federal government and may try something again during the trial. They will fail again.

No one from the GOP has shown any contrition about an attack on our own government. It is so frustrating that these people are willing to turn a blind eye to this along with all the other atrocities of the previous 4 years. It seems that they just want to be enemies. Republican greed and hate drives this all.

submit to it, or kick them until they no longer get up again. The GOP is dangerous, has repeatedly refused to acknowledge the truth, and insists that something else happened that they had no part in.

I submit the only useful answer remaining is to kick the hell out of them, or to kick them the hell out of congress. I would find both personally satisfying. A declaration of the GOP leadership as a terrorist cell would also be appropriate...and I am serious about that.

There is no way forward otherwise in which they do not continue to threaten our congress and the Nation's future. They are playing word games to avoid the harsh truth of what happened Jan. 6th and indeed throughout the last 4 years. Clearly some of them would attempt it again and may be planning to do so even now.

The evaluation by FBI and other terror experts is that the threat of violent action by domestic forces hostile to democracy and our current government is real, immanent, and will likely persist for some time to come. It has been said more than once that there may well be plans still underway to accomplish what Jan.6th did not. Any action taken by GOP members must be read in light of their apparent participation and support of it. I am not saying they are waiting to take advantage of something like Jan.6th. I am saying they anticipate repeating it as many times as suits their strategy.

They are not playing games to see what they can get away with when mommy isn't looking. The events of Jan 6th should be evidence enough that they are without conscience or mercy. Whatever it takes to stop them is the force required. I'm not advocating a lynching or public flogging, unlike our distinguished colleagues across the aisle. Their silence is damning enough.

They spent the last 4 years applauding every racially nuanced sneer and every threat and every child separated. They spoke and voted after the attack as if they were on a holy mission. They spoke with confidence and conviction. They EXPECTED the attack IMO. They are a tangible existential threat to our way of life and the security of our government.

I will not back down. I will not tolerate them. It is for them to prove they are worthy of trust. It is not for us to grant it just because they show up. Those who will not are unworthy to govern nor to represent the citizens of their districts and states.

What would a successful January 6 insurrection have looked like?

Executions of Pence, Pelosi, others?

If successful, would you have taken over Senate and House and tossed all Democrats out? Killed them?

Would trump have been named president by fiat and was he ready to make a speech to that effect?

Was trump prepared to declare martial law, and who in the DoD would have followed those orders?

Would DoD trump supporters have executed senior DoD officials who were not trumpists?

Were you prepared to somehow shut down US media?

Add to the list.
