Madison Cawthorn writes a letter! Madison needs a proofreader....

Preferably an English Major!

Twitter is taking the piss right the fuck out of him!

Here’s the letter in all its 10th grade level glory. And this guy is a member of the House of Representatives!

Akin to saying “Your an idiot!”

(Not you, VO...me).

I also blame autocorrect. So...it has been manually corrected! (I did it again!)

Oh well, it is early and I am not in my natural habitat. I am in Butte, Montana this morning, quite a bit away from my abode in Jacksonville.

Commenting on someone else’s English while screwing up my own is something I try and avoid!

Whenever I see someone type “Your an idiot” I always say “You shouldn’t say ‘Your an idiot’ because people might think you’re an idiot “

And yes, Cawthorn strikes me as someone utterly out of his depth who ran for office on a whim.

Reading and even listening to him leaves me feeling dumber for having insulted my brain with his dipshittery!

Again, thanks for the slack!

I start running from Butte over to Wallace, ID tonight. I grab a truck and trailer brought from ND by another guy, make a stop at the PO in Missoula and then over to Wallace where I do a trailer swap with a guy coming from Spokane. Back to Missoula then back here.

3 weeks worth!

The Capitol rioters depended in the element of surprise. They won't have that if they repeat the same stunt.
I suspect the point of trying to open up the tours again is to...

make it seem normal and innocent,
obscure the real intent of the Cap tours that he conducted the day before the attack, and
make a show of doing something nice for the men and women who are guarding the Capitol because of his mob recons on Jan 5th.

Not to be too harsh or sexist, but his signature looks like that of a 12 year old girl who had just gotten out of the habit of dotting her cursive "i"s with little circles or hearts.

Home- or pod-schooled with a tutor who was only paid enough to get him to pass the minimum K-12 requirements? He comes from a seemingly wealthy enough family who appear to not care if he ever had to work or not.

And yes, he cannot even write his own name correctly. Cauthon instead of Cawthorn is embarrassing.

and that signature looks like a fifth grader wrote it. As for the misspellings and punctuation, I would assume that Cawthorn has staff who type his letters. In that case, he/she could have made some of those mistakes. Even so, I would assume he dictated the letter and read it before he signed it.

Are properly schooled is another question.

I struggle with the typewritten word all the time because I have mild dyslexia, and I often misspell the same words over and over (“absolutely” for instance. I always leave the ‘e’ out), but I am not writing letters for a sitting congressman, either. I’m not writing letters for anyone for that matter!

If I were in his position, I sure as hell would find someone who has some writing skills to make sure I don’t look like a total nitwit.

The people of NC’s 11th should be ashamed of themselves for electing this fucking idiot over Colonel Moe Davis

misspelling the same word over and over again. As with you, I keep leaving the "e" out of knowledgeable and then have to correct it. My spelling has improved tremendously with "spell check".

I'm wondering if his staff is as poorly educated as he is. Most people make mistakes, but if you have an important position such as congressman, I assume you would hire people who will compensate for your shortcomings.

It really is hard to believe this man got elected to congress.

I never had the problems many Dyslexics have, meaning I never had an issue reading and reading comprehension but when I learned about the various symptoms, I knew I was in the spectrum as well. I found it interesting that two of the symptoms or indicators are having difficulty learning or remembering your right from your left and poor penmanship. I struggled with the right/left thing for YEARS as a child, until I just made the mental note that I throw a baseball with my right. But it was always that mental exercise before I could confidently say one or the other.

My handwriting is still miserable and looks like a 4 year olds. Unless I write VERY slowly, and think about every letter, my handwriting is simply atrocious.

Words with the “I before E” and many others I still struggle with to this day. Spell check keeps my writing look much better than it otherwise would.

I’ll cut Cawthorn slack on the way he signs his name. At least it is legible, even though he doesn’t write his “w” properly, but the rest of the letter, on House Letterhead no less, is inexcusable.

27. One of my problems with spelling
Mon Jan 25, 2021, 04:17 PM
Jan 2021

is that apparently I had been misspelling certain words for decades and without spellcheck, I wasn't aware of it. It is hard to rewire your brain when you get older.

I also learned a lot teaching my children how to read and spell when they were young. I'd watch Electric Company with them and wonder, "Why didn't they teach us that when I was in school?"

When I was in kindergarten, I had a problem with left and right, so when we said the Pledge of Allegiance facing the windows, I memorized that particular wall and used it in my head for much of my life. For some reason, THAT wall was significant, though I don't really know why. I think driving helped to reinforce right and left for me, didn't need a wall for that!

Yes, I'll cut him slack for the spelling of his name, as many people's signatures are barely legible, though his does look like it was written by a grade school child.
