(52,128 posts)He is a true hero and humanitarian. I first learned of him about 15 years ago when Tony Bourdain was his pal and had him on several of his travel shows. They were in Spain, DC., etc. In 2016 tRump screwed him over after the Immigration Ban. Jose wouldn't host a tRump event and tRump tried to sue him.
Sean Penn is another humanitarian who is often overlooked. He has helped people all over for 15 years amd it isn't "for show".

(25,332 posts)We loved Bourdain's show, may he rest in peace.
They went together to Asturias, the Spanish village that was Jose's birth place.
It was so fun - 2 old friends together, clearly enjoying each other so much. They seemed to have a lot of inside jokes!
Methinks Bourdain would be so proud of his friend and how is spending his one life on earth - in full and total generosity and love.
I believe in the "historical" Jesus (im a pagan). Chef Jose walks in his footprints!!

(52,128 posts)seafood on the beach and Jose went to the sea to get some fresh saltwater? That made a difference in the recipe and outcome of the dish.

(52,128 posts)He was on at least 3 of the various travel shows Bourdain has had over the years.

(11,949 posts)In my mind one of the best shows ever. I actually like his travel channel shows better than the CNN ones, although there is no doubt the production values were better on CNN. But they got a little dark near the end. We now know his illness was getting worse.
BigmanPigman
(52,128 posts)His books are the behind the scenes stories of what he and the crew experienced over the years covering the 3 shows. When I read about a certain scene I remember it immediately. He was such a cool person and clever with his words. His A Cook's Tour shows are free on Vimeo or Daily Motion. They were on The Food Channel, (which he hated with a passion). Just Google it. They are really funny.
