UPDATE: ex U.S. Marine Donovan Crowl & Army vet Jessica Watkins arrested in crackdown on Militia groups per @washingtonpost.
They were described @RonanFarrow's 2nd piece about Jan 6th.

2/ These individuals were among those spotted as part of a disciplined line of individuals wearing military-style gear marching up the #Capitol steps.
3/ @RonanFarrow's 2nd piece is a must read. Paints a picture of Donovan, a man whose racism, anti-government views & militia activity frightened all around him.
Also describes how sleuthing efforts of many led to the identification.

(2,130 posts).....dress-up costume included a "tactical" vest, purchased no doubt on the internet. It had the usual complement of small pockets, one of which contained an open package of peanut butter and cheddar crackers. You know, the bright orange ones from the convenience store. Because, you know, snacks.

(34,141 posts)The video I saw with them was before the Capitol was invaded. I noted it because I was looking for the Oathkeepers who showed up later in the video Ronan Farrow posted of them climbing the stairs. They were the only two I saw in that type of gear.
I doubt I could find the particular video again among the thousand or so videos in that timeline or I'd try to post a link to it.

(32,626 posts)it's been known for years. The VA could work wonders if they wanted to.
Some think our defense money is best used on bullets and bombs instead of beds and meds. Unfortunately, the broken men and women are always last served even though they put their lives first for the country.

(32,626 posts)they know damn well what happens when human beings are subjected to the totally unreal reality of a war zone. They've had so much experience, but you're right they 'hand-out benefits'. They fail miserably at 'administering health'. There's a reason why so many veterans going back to WWI become alcoholics and addicts. There's a reason why so many become violent. I started visiting the VA when I was 5. You should check it out.

(23,391 posts)Brother-in-law got cataract surgery on both eyes, and a pair of artificial knees, plus all his meds, no charge.
Me? I've applied to VA a few times, they never responded. I guess I don't qualify for some reason.

We're training terrorists.
I know a guy was was a Vietnam era Marine veteran. He told me that during basic training the DI named several notorious murderers, among them Lee Harvey Oswald. The DI was rather proud of the marksmanship training they had gotten in the Marines. Sick.

(24,384 posts)My friend told me that story before that movie came out.
I'm sure it was repeated many times by DIs over the years.

(16,296 posts)The DI stole it from the movie
Mr.Bill
(24,384 posts)before the movie came out. He was in boot camp in '72.
The actor in the movie, R. Lee Ermey, was an actual DI at one time. His first movie was The Boys In Company C. That's an excellent Vietnam era movie based on a true story. There are several real DIs in that movie.

(19,208 posts)these traitors taken off our streets and placed behind bars where they belong. Law enforcement is really stepping up to the plate here. They deserve a round of applause for this. We'll let them know when they're wrong, but we'll damn sure give them credit when they're right.

(1,856 posts)And they should get deprogramming services while they do their time.
The military needs to start programs to de-radicalize both their active duty and military veterans.
But recall them into the US military and fry them first!
