I know, trivial in light of recent events, but -- is USPS anywhere near back to normal in your area?

Last edited Mon Jan 11, 2021, 03:32 PM - Edit history (1)

Everything (in north AL) seems to be going through Stockbridge, GA and/or Austell, GA, and taking days to move to the next stop. One package went from IL to GA in one day, then took 5 days to get to neighboring B'ham, AL. Now 5 days in B'ham and still not on its way. Two others 'delayed in transit' for 3-5 days. ETAs kept getting incremented, then no estimates given. I've even had regular letters delayed beyond the ETA.

The damage may have been done for the sake of the Nov. election, but it hasn't gone away after the election.

OTOH, we got a Sunday delivery on 1/3 -- letter, not a package -- and they made a Sunday package run, at least, today (just not for us). It seems like USPS workers are putting in overtime, but that's not enough if the system has been thoroughly sabotaged.

ETA: Now getting this banner message:

Alert: USPS is experiencing unprecedented volume increases and limited employee availability due to the impacts of COVID-19. We appreciate your patience.

Don't know if it was already showing on other pages or just now added. But I guess it figures.

Still missing package from December 4th. Just try and track it, good friggin luck. You fill out the form and nothing happens. Then they send you a message asking how well they have done in locating your package. What? what did they do? Nothing. You send another message and some pre-automated message comes back to tell them how great they did. It's round and round and nothing ever happens. I am more than fed up and sick and tired of this whole shit show.

We haven't noticed any impact in our mail over the past 10 months. We moved up here at the beginning of the pandemic and opened a post office box because it's so rural we don't get mail delivery. At the beginning, all of our mail was forwarded to us. As we changed our address with our banks, services, etc., mail started arriving at the PO box on time.

From all that I've read and heard, our experience has been unusual.

ago now. A month or so before that, my Bubba Wallace t-shirt took forever to get here. That may have been from delays back east or high demand. I suspect a lot of guys like me bought his gear. I heard almost nothing of mail problems, but I wouldn't be surprised if Idaho was intentionally left out of the disruption campaign.

NONE have been delivered on time, but rather at least 24-48 hours delayed-- and they are having to process refunds.

These were cross-country shipped envelopes. Local mail seems to be ok.

I sent a package Priority Mail on December 11th. It got there on the 24th.

But on the 22nd, I sent three packages (Express Mail) and they all actually got there on time, which I was hardly expecting. One made it from an island in Washington state to Maryland in two days and when I found that out, you could have knocked me off my seat with a feather.

$28 in late charges on one credit card. This has never happened and the bill was mailed 10 days before due. Also H bought gifts on line and they've never been delivered to PO, according to the workers there and they have looked for them. For almost 25 years and until Dejoy the mail service was impecible. Biden must push its restoration in order to be on time for mail in ballots in 2022.

The Express Mail package of Christmas gifts I mailed my daughter on 12/6/20 is supposedly still sitting in Nashville and due to be delivered on 12/10/20. I insured it and submitted a claim last week and received no response. Yesterday I got a satisfaction survey emailed to me wondering how satisfied I was with the resolution of my claim.

This is beyond incompetent.

On top of that, our regular mail delivery is typically three (3) weeks late.

Spent their lives working for the Postal Service and are now watching it be sabotaged from within.

Examples: Took me 16 days to get my water bill that was mailed at the PO less than two miles from me. Bank statement took 12 days. Utility bill-6 days. These are all things that used to arrive like clockwork.
