So I am at the craft fair selling my jewelry I made today..............

And lucky me I find out I am two spots away from the crazy coin selling teabagger guy who is yelling about the end of the world that is coming when the President is re-elected and just insane amounts of anti-government don't tread on me bullshit.

But next to me seemed ot be some perfectly nice ladies one of whom I know casually from town so we were chatting on and off a bit. I don't talk politics at all in town because its a very red town and-why bother.

So, all is going well until this very nice man who is running for State Rep comes around shaking hands and when he gets to these ladies they turn in to screaming maniacs before my eyes. This is honestly what they are saying

Obama is appointing the Taliban to positions within the government
Obamacare has 21 new taxes on people and there were other equally crazy things
but the real issue was their manor was absolutely vicious and they were screaming at this perfectly lovely gentleman who was very patiently trying to explain things to them JUST LOOK IT UP ON LINE- ITS ALL THERE ON LINE DONT TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT, ITS ALL ON LINE.

I had the worst urge to say "I know its true I read it on the internet" OMG!

So after he said finally he certainly WOULD look it up he came to me and i just shook my head and said "I have no words for that" And he just smiled at me and we talked for a moment about how these teabaggers are.

Jewelry sales were ok. It was extremely windy so I was having to practically lay on the table to keep things from flying off the table. It was so incredibly bad that I left two hours early completely demoralized. I make my jewelry out of glass beads and it was getting thrown off the table and around so much I was afraid it was going to break. And the earrings I made were flying off the table and I had to rush and keep picking them up before people stepped on them. It was very frustrating so I am going to try and find more craft fairs to go to. I put an incredible amount of work in to the jewelry and in preparation for this fair. And having crazies next to me didn't add to my enjoyment of the day.

I do think some heavy duty magnets would be a good idea to have to just hold things down in general. These were gale force winds I swear so I doubt anything would have saved the day, but in normal circumstances since I have a metal table it would be good to hold my table cloth in place and price list down.

Hopefully the windbags will go away in a month!

We used to make and sell jewellery at craft sales, before I went back to school. It was fun, but exhausting and sometimes there are aggravating people, so I sympathize. I hope the next craft sale goes better.

Not sure what you're using for displays. We made display pads, covered in fabric, and pinned the smaller stuff to it with jewellery pins (like these http://www.gessweincanada.com/product-p/807-1180m.htm). It stops things "walking off" and would probably stop the wind blowing them away.

Don't let the crazies get you down.

I find this amazing. And it is disturbing to know that this is not uncommon. My sister-in-law, for instance, a petite, retired teacher, could have been among those "nice ladies" who suddenly turned vicious. At the slightest provocation, she adamantly "vomits" all over the conversation with delusional screeds that she parrots.
For a long time, I've wondered what on earth has turned my sister-in-law, my friend, from a soft-spoken, well-educated, and kind person into some sort of screaming wretch when it comes to her version of political reality. Finally, I came to the conclusion she is brainwashed and suffering from a delusion after years of "drinking the Kool-aid" of Faux Noise and right-wing radio. While she thinks that's she's well-informed, the truth is that her perspective is so distorted now that she's not even in touch with reality anymore.

This disturbs me. I am alarmed because I know that she's just one among thousands -- perhaps millions. This is dangerous. Our form of government cannot exist, much less function, without an informed electorate operating within a common frame of reference. And already, we can see what happens when a large segment of the population are ill-informed, brainwashed, and suffering from delusions.

The TALIBAN??? REALLY???

These accusations are insane. My idiot father said to me that the garden at the White House costs the taxpayers a million dollars a day because there is a special crew with trucks that comes in every night to take out any plants that are dying and they replace them and do other things to the garden. I mean my father IS an NRA loving racist alcoholic abusive retired cop so its not like its a stretch for him. But when this really crazy stuff comes out of peoples mouths I really wonder.

smart in other areas but thinks fox noise tells the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

My son went to California to do some work on his dad's house and told him he would charge extra if he had on fox. His father said.."it's all true" and my son said, "no it isn't, dad"..anyway, he changed the channel whenever our son came into the room. Ha!

beautiful day, peaceful creek, perfect...until our other friend asks her if she's re-financed her mortgage yet, and she starts carrying on about Fanny and Freddy, and how they (and they alone) ruined our economic system and our economy, and they should all be in jail, how her bank wants to photograph every room in her house before they re-fi, and how it's Fanny and Freddy's fault, and those pictures will end up on the internet....she was yelling and screaming and carrying on.

She scared off all the wildlife.

She used to forward me crazy emails that her idiot teabagger brothers sent her, and I would painstakingly refute them and return them until finally she stopped sending me stuff. This is someone who didn't have EZPass because her brothers told her that the government would use it to track her (because the government is wildly interested in the lives of middle class houswives)

My sister posted on her FB page the evening of the debate. We had out of state relatives (mostly republicans) calling and asking if she was drinking heavily. The crap she posted was so over the top, that even those that basically agree politically, could not tolerate the over the top crazy. Her FB account has been deleted. also the kind that have been forwarded about a 100 times. What kills me about all of these so-called "dire warnings" is that if you don't reject it outright as preposterous, then the availability of places to find out the truth are easily accessible. I used to reply to some of the ones I got from people I knew and would gently suggest that not everything they read on the internet can be taken for gospel. That a little fact checking is a GOOD THING. But in a few days I would get more emails from that same person indicating to me that they had not availed themselves of Snopes or any other tool that would shed some light for them. So I have given up trying to suggest to them that they investigate before they automatically forward an email. They clearly take whatever they get at face value, no matter how preposterous or outrageous the claim.

One thing that is truly puzzling to me and makes sad is that many of these people are "nice" folks....otherwise. They would give you the shirt off their backs. They are decent, hard working people who have been seriously misled and they just do not seem to have the ability to understand that they have been led down a very narrow and ugly path. I wonder how they rationalize the reality with the dire predictions?? If Obama was hell bent to destroy this country, why are we still functioning pretty much as we always have? I guess the answer they would give is....he is not really going to implement his draconian measures until he is re-elected. He is waiting to do the real bad stuff after he doesn't have to worry about being re-elected. They know this because someone sent them an email that said so........

Heavy sigh..........
