(4,935 posts)If Pence resigns, the President gets to nominate another VP. That VP has to be approved by both houses of Congress. However, there is no deadline for nominating a VP. No VP, no one to preside over the counting of the votes. Chaos continues.
Of course, come January 20, Pelosi becomes President. Yay!!

(8,040 posts)potential strategy I heard about was to somehow prevent enough dems from attending and voting. Proud Boys clog the streets? Cultists start rioting so the police shut everything down? Just enough flat tires, arrests, threats to keep enough dems home? City-wide stay at home order?
Tricky part is making sure enough goprs get to congress before things shut down, but that's what Bannon and Prince are for!
Why again did Barr not want to stick around for this?

(44,725 posts)There was no Vice President when the electoral votes were counted in 1965.
There was no Vice President when the electoral votes were counted in 1949.
There was no Vice President when the electoral votes were counted in 1925.
I could go on to list every election that took place after the president had died in office and there was no new Vice President. Or when the Vice President had died in office (which has happened several times)
Moreover, as recently as 1969, when Humphrey was VP, he chose not to preside over the counting of the electoral votes following his defeat in November 1968. The President Pro Tem, serving as the President of the Senate, presided.

(57,751 posts)of weeks. I thought maybe trump and the rest of his sycophants had sat him down because his clownish carryings on and abysmal record with the lawsuits.
But no, I should have known better as they'll hearing him out despite his failings in all the other cases. They're about as ineffectual as he is, considering all the decisions and bad moves they've all made.
