Democrats are pro-US, pro-constitution, and trying to make lives better for ALL the people. When Joe says he is a proud Democrat but will be the President of all the people, he means this.

I believe that is the right way to look at it, ethically.
I know it can be fun to fantasize about punishing assholes, but one does need to consider the collateral damage that is caused.
