How can so many continue to support Trump when there are 270,000 dead?

So many dead due to his criminal neglect and 70 million wanted to give him four more years to wreak havoc on our country. Somebody please give me some reason to believe that this country is not doomed.

If the COVID 19 pandemic was as lethal per capital as the cholera and smallpox pandemics of the mid-19th century and before, I suspect that a lot of the living in our universe would be howling for his head.

The anger Trump taps is deeply held racist anger. They are angry that "those people" are "taking" their jobs. Those who are doing fine economically are angry at the "freebies" "those people" are getting. They believe "they" are being afforded some sort of unfair advantage (despite all evidence to the contrary). If "they" aren't succeeding, it's become something is wrong with "them." It's the liberals and all their "give aways" that are keeping "them" from being productive (because you know, "they" won't work unless forced to by extreme deprivation).

Many may have very little awareness that it is deeply held anti-black racist beliefs that are behind the anger. They lump other non-White groups (and some impoverished whites) in with "them," but it is the anti-black stereotypes rooted in our history that drive their anger.

This racist anger blinds them and disconnects them from empathy for other human beings.

the covid deaths are just acceptable collateral damage.

The trumpanzees fear that they will become a minority and will be treated like they have been treating the minorities all their lives.

The Democratic party needs to address that fear.

Which means the Democratic party needs to reform itself and unshackle the memes of the past (tax tax spend spend) and of the present (socialism.)

Tony Blair did this successfully and won by calling Labour "New Labour" and repackaging the message to appeal to people who had a set idea about labour in their heads.

Unfortunately, Jeremy Corbyn has dragged Labour back into its doldrums.

A death cult, indeed. And white supremacy as its religion. They want to create a "white" version of North Korea.

Trump's cultists believe every lie that falls so often from his lips, and it becomes their truth and reality. They support him despite the COVID deaths believing his line that many more would have died if not for what he supposedly did, which was much too little far too late...

to die for the economy anyway. Plus our state already bought all that medicine last spring. People are choosing to die from it just to make Trump look bad"
