What you just saw was not a typo.
This is how Reuters' Sam Youngman just reported the fact that Obama leads Romney today in their tracking poll by 5%, unchanged from yesterday (5%):
A Reuters/Ipsos poll on Tuesday showed Obama's lead over the Republican narrowing to five points, at 46-41 percent. Obama was ahead by seven points last week and five points on Monday in the online survey.
But wait....that's not all. Youngman said the lead was 7% last week. But was it? Reuters conducts its poll Monday to Friday, and here's what Reuters reported on Friday regarding Friday's poll: "Obama's lead over Romney dips to 5 points: Reuters/Ipsos poll".
So...correct me if I am wrong. This individual picked Thursday of last week, for no reason whatsoever, and compared it to Monday, and determined that today the lead narrowed (!) despite the truth being that the lead has been 5% for three straight days.
The so-called journalist, Sam Youngman, can be contacted on Twitter at @samyoungman

Romney gains ground on Obama after strong debate
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican Mitt Romney gained ground on Democratic President Barack Obama after a strong performance in the first debate of the presidential election, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Thursday.
Romney is now viewed positively by 51 percent of voters, the first time the Republican challenger has enjoyed a net positive in the presidential race. Obama's favorability rating remained unchanged at 56 percent.
<...>
The poll found that Obama's seven-point advantage over Romney had narrowed to a five-point lead, 48 percent to 43 percent, but a truly accurate reading on the debate's impact will not be possible for several days, he said.
<...>
The online poll surveyed 536 registered voters on Wednesday and Thursday after the debate. It has a credibility interval of 4.8 percentage points.
