The GOP isn't trying to steal the election.
They’re trying to appear like they’re supporting Trump because they don’t want to appear to be abandoning him and risk losing the entire MAGA base a month and a half before the election for control of the Senate.
They couldn’t be happier to take back their party from Trump and they’re going to make sure he falls. They’re just going to kick and scream and make a big show until he does.

2. Makes sense
We have an unusual double-runoff that will determine control of the Senate.
I wonder if this has ever happened before? |

3. Trump
I think they are afraid that after he leaves he might take his cult-members with him and form his own Party, thus splitting the GOP. This would render the GOP as a non-competitive entity.

8. On the other hand,
Trump's bad behavior and the refusal of the GOP to call him out on it may only encourage Democratic voters in Georgia to turn out in even bigger numbers.

I'm a little tapped out from the last election, but I popped for the Georgia elections this evening.

And when it fails numerous people close to Trump are going to need to be tried for Sedition. Including Trump of course.

15. Agreed. They are just spineless.
Although maybe 25% of the country is crazy enough to believe every lie that Trump is telling, 75% know that Joe Biden won the election. There's no way for Trump to overturn the will of the people when they don't have any legal way to throw out enough votes to overturn the results of the election.

The GOP are stupid if they cannot see the danger coming down the tracks. Trump plans to stir the pot until it boils.

19. Not just the Senate election, they want their base to think that Trump is the real President
which will give him from the sidelines quite a bit of power over the GOP. Imagine if you will, Trump TV, with the "real" President giving orders to sabotage Joe Biden and the Democrats, which McConnell would want to do anyway. Their base will be enthralled-- literally.
We really need those two Senate seats to have a fighting chance against this scenario. |

They're going to say very loudly that they support Trump - while doing nothing to help him overturn the results of the election.
They want Trump's MAGA base - without Trump. |

28. They can't quietly distance.
MAGA will see the GOP as abandoning Trump so MAGA will abandon the GOP.
They’ve gotta walk a tightrope of appearing to support him while not doing anything to overturn the results. |
