He would have to know any wholesale pardons would be damaging to that effort. He also probably believes he has done nothing wrong. Could he roll the dice and not get out the old pardon pen?

(881 posts)Can he deliver the cult and support the Rs running for Congress and Governorships. I still say that he is going to setup a dark money super PAC, keeping some if not most of the money for himself. Jr or Princess is going to run for Governor of NY.

(26,929 posts)He knows that it's now or never. The GOP will bail on him if he loses and there's little chance he'd win the nomination in 2024.
They won't make the same mistake twice. We won't see two dozen candidates in the 2024 R primary if Trump is one of them.

(8,213 posts)...and it finally hit me last night: Biden should play Trump like a fiddle, just like Putin and Jong-un has. Biden should play nice with Trump in private and say things like, "man, it's wild how you did so much for Senate and House Republicans and they turned their back on you just like that! I would have never guessed it..."
Play into his narcissism to get him to direct his crazy cult to turn on the Republican Party for abandoning their leader.

(26,929 posts)I know I'm in the vast majority with this opinion, but I think that once he loses, he's going to lose interest in the fight. He'll still call in to Fox News and whine like he always has, but without a specific goal (other than staying out of prison), I'm not sure that I see him putting in the effort. I think even Trump knows 2024 is a pipe dream. I don't think he has any interest in "leading" the party or creating a new one.

(8,213 posts)We'll be hearing from his ass till he dies, so, we might as well manipulate him to focus that anger on the Republicans that used him and discarded him rather than having that anger directed at us.
Just look at how his zombies are chanting "Fox News sucks!" outside of those vote counting locations.
TwilightZone
(26,929 posts)The worst thing that ever happened to Trump was winning the presidency. He just wanted to pump up the brand, but once he was elected, he really had no choice but to go through the motions.
"Fox News sucks" was because they called AZ early, not because Trump has convinced them of anything. They'll be right back to watching it next week. They're probably back to watching it now.
We put way too much emphasis on small events that are meaningless in the long term. A bunch of buffoons showing up to protest isn't unexpected. It would be more unexpected if they didn't. These are the same clowns that run boat parades. They organize on social media and show up because they like attention and to intimidate people.

(8,213 posts)Trump has no loyalty, especially to those that have had no loyalty to him.
It wouldn't take much to get him -- and thus, his cultists -- to turn on Republican politicians for abandoning him. Hell, all Biden probably has to do is point out to him that most of the Republican Senators kept their jobs while Trump lost his.

For one thing he is going to go both barrels at Fox News. That can't be a bad thing. It is kind of like Stalin and Hitler fighting.

(17,914 posts)but 2020 and early 2021 (up until Biden is President). He knows the Marc Rich pardoned damaged Hillary Clinton. He he truly believes that he can run a competitive campaign in 2024, then he is delusional enough to know that wholesale pardons would be risky. They are the actions of someone who does not have a political future.
