Biden offers them cabinet / administrative positions, they resign from the Senate. Burr and Toomey would be replaced by Democratic appointments (Dem governors in those states). Johnson would be replaced by a special election (which we could win). That's 3 Senate pickups.
Idea posed by the Votemaster on electoral-vote.com:
I think Biden can make the case. Let's do this guys.

(17,865 posts)This is one of them. Johnson and Burr are a hard no. Johnson is a conduit for Russian misinformation. Burr decided doing inside trades was more important than executing the duties of his office and protecting those who elected him.
All three supported Trump the last four years. Burr showed some resistance to Trump.
I don't know as much about Toomey.

(3,245 posts)First off, as just said, Johnson is a partisan hack who's been a Biden conspiracy theorist for the last 3 years. Ain't no way I want anything to do with this jackass.
Toomey and Burr are both retiring. With Toomey's seat, I see this a Dem pickup as is so why?

(25,988 posts)but will each of the respective governors appoint Democrats to their Senate seats? Without a doubt, a repug guv wouldnt hesitate to fill a seat vacated by a D with a R, but would these Democratic governors want to avoid the inevitable outcry from repugs?

(62,276 posts)We need to start fighting fire with fire.
A lot of people don't remember that in 2010 dozens of Republicans ran as Democrats, then switched parties after the won. We need to do something else we're fucked for the next two years. And then, are we going to be able to pull a 2006 or a 2018? With the way this election has gone? I have my doubts.

(3,491 posts)to swing it to Joe? Per the CNN report from Philly just now, it could be in doubt. Someone talk me down.

(23,158 posts)Johnson is the worst of the worst, a total Russian whack job. He should be considered for nothing but prison. Barr, an inside trader, the same and I think Toomey is almost as bad. If we are just down 1 seat, Toomey might be the answer because he's not an out and out traitor criminal, AFAIK, like Johnson and I don't remember hearing about him being one of the grifters. So, depending on who Toomey actually is, and the laws of the state of PA, that could be a good idea if it changes the Senate..

(52,166 posts)I doubt any of the three would agree to leave the Senate and I have to admit, I would have a hard time accepting Johnson in any role. Burr and Toomey would be less bad than Johnson but still not quite problematic. I could live with either of them if it gave us the Senate and thus allowed us to have a freer hand with all other appointees.

(7,077 posts)In addition to the seats, we could benefit from understanding, investigating and potentially addressing whatever took place to keep the Republicans so uniformly aligned against national security in the last session.
Give any Republicans with knowledge or participation in any illegal activity of that nature a chance to help restore a bit of the balance of what they might have cost their country.
And Cabinet positions arent forever.
