(15,806 posts)Dare I hope about Georgia too?
I don't know at all, but I like what we have sitting out there in GA. The entire state is almost done counting outside of Atlanta, where there are a ton left.

(8,090 posts)I was a bit worried b/c of the Iron Belt (or whatever it's called) and voters possibly being turned off by the protests.

(236 posts)Thanks for your interest in my home state . Yes, the Iron Range, quite the place. I guess in many ways its story is the Rust Belt story. Maybe all the Finish immigrants there contributed to a bit of a different culture on the now rusty Iron Belt (I do love it), from the more eastern Rust Belt, but I suppose very similar as a one time hot bed of organized labor. I guess since the rusted range is pretty much rural, it is fertile ground for trumpzism.

(8,090 posts)I honestly didn't know much about it until featured on the PBS News Hour one evening... interesting segment.

(29,655 posts)to a gawd damn better State then my damn birth State of Wisconsin. Thanks honey. Now if our tiny City of Dakota, MN can elect a new Mayor and City council members my life will be worth living.

(236 posts)around these parts, cool! So sorry about Wisconsin - a political story to be admired and respected, so rudely interrupted.
Damn those local elected officials. They can make ya feel like youre in Mississippi or Alabama - sorry for any stereotyping - wherever you are.

(236 posts)My parents were not really what I would calls sports people, but I was raised a Viking as much as I was a Democrat. I had way to much of me merged with how the Vikings were doing, for way too long. Im a recovering fan, off football all together. Im now a Rugby fan - taking in games from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Australia, and New Zealand (the Commonwealth?) online. How about you?

(115,683 posts)since I was in 2nd grade, and I still have a lot of relatives in WI. WTF ever happened to WI? It used to have normal people like Russ Feingold.
PutGramaOnThePhone
(236 posts)Normal, and an almost was, or shoulda been liberal icon around these parts, in my hazy recollection. I spent quite a bit of time out of MN when my dad quit teaching junior high Russian, and we moved to Maryland for his job with a federal three letter acronym, ending in A; and then for my jobs after college. So, maybe Im idealizing Wisconsin political history before the fall with Walker. Theres a good reading topic for me.

(29,655 posts)would kick ROJOs ass the second go around, and when ROJO won the second race, I gave up all love for my beloved birth place. And when Wanker won the governorship twice I completely disowned Wisconsin forever. Ugh.......once the shining light of progressive ideals, now the fawking basement of repub garbage and trash.
PutGramaOnThePhone
(236 posts)I write like I know what Im talking but I was not thinking about ROJO at all! Seems to me that Wanker (sorry, learning the terminology) was and is, a clever enough evil bastard, who was in the right place at the right time to do some real damage to Wisconsin. Now ROJO. I suppose not as tangibly harmful to the state, but what a disgrace! Shame on me, I was completely forgetting that he was the stupid, total waste of space that beat Russ. And the stupid shit hes been pulling to try to be the repuke simultaneously furthest up both Putins and trumps asses! Wow! So sorry.

(236 posts)I was born a Democrat here in MN, now as dismayed by the amount of trump support around here as I suppose a lot of the rest of DUers are in their corner of the country.
I wasnt old enough to vote for McGovern in 72, but my mom and dad were, and did. In 1980 I stood in line on campus to cast my first presidential vote for Jimmy Cater.

(236 posts)I think Im rusting in the brain somewhat before my time, but that sounds better, and has a much better ring to it. Whats this about 1976 in the OP?

(28,075 posts)In the presidential race. I should have come up with a better rhyme that made it clearer. (Learned to stay blue in 72. That might have been better.)

(236 posts)Thank you. I certainly couldve looked it up to refresh my memory, but looking back at last night I realize just how much of an idiot I was being with doom and gloom, and a huge case of let down fatigue.
