Are we assuming that the Russians have not had their fingers in the tabulation machinery? That, in spite of our tremendous *zero* efforts to thwart foreign interference, all those bad actors just decided to step back?
Like, really?
When polling is really, really, really off, surely the usual suspects come to mind.

There is too much room for hackery. Right now, the counting is being done by proprietary software, in the dark bowels of computers. So, you are exactly right-- we need to verify the accuracy of the tallies.
We fought hard to get rid of touchscreen voting machines. But we are not getting the full benefit of paper ballots if we cannot audit them. Or watch them be counted.
