https://www.forbes.com/sites/joewalsh/2020/10/28/trump-takes-credit-for-ending-kosovo-war-which-ended-in-1999/amp/?__twitter_impression=true"President Donald Trump added a new line to his foreign policy resume this week, repeatedly insisting he brokered an end to the violent conflict between Serbia and Kosovo, even though the Kosovo War ended more than two decades ago a bizarre and inaccurate claim as the president looks to tout his dealmaking skills in the final week of the campaign.
During a Nebraska rally on Tuesday, Trump claimed Serbia and Kosovo had been fighting for centuries, but this bloody conflict supposedly ended after Trump told the two countries leaders he was unwilling to make any trade deals unless they agreed to stop killing each other, a successful maneuver the president predicted will save a lot of lives.
Trump made an almost identical claim on Sunday, telling a crowd in New Hampshire he brokered a Serbia-Kosovo peace deal that cut off decades of bloodshed and ended with the two countries leaders hugging and kissing in the White House this year.
Trump helped negotiate an economic normalization deal between Kosovo and Serbia this year, but that agreement mostly involved economic and transportation links, and it did not solve tougher geopolitical issues like Serbias refusal to recognize Kosovo ever since the country declared its independence in 2008.
....
Trump framed his Serbia-Kosovo economic deal as a key distinction between him and Democratic challenger Joe Biden, suggesting Biden does not have the stamina for those negotiations. Ironically, Biden was directly involved in the U.S. response to the Kosovo War. As a U.S. Senator, he supported NATO airstrikes against Serbia in 1999, a controversial measure often credited with helping to end the fighting and ethnic cleansing in Kosovo."

(131,163 posts)(state of emergency) due to the "unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States" imposed by Yugoslavia and Serbia over the Kosovo War. . .
On 13 October 1998, the North Atlantic Council issued activation orders for the execution of both limited air strikes and a phased air campaign in Yugoslavia which would begin in approximately 96 hours.[129] On 15 October the NATO Kosovo Verification Mission (KVM) Agreement for a ceasefire was signed, and the deadline for withdrawal was extended to 27 October.[130][131] Difficulties implementing the agreement were reported, as clashes continued between government troops and the guerrillas.[132] The Serbian withdrawal commenced on or around 25 October 1998, and Operation Eagle Eye commenced on 30 October. . .
On 23 March 1999 at 21:30 UTC, Richard Holbrooke returned to Brussels and announced that peace talks had failed and formally handed the matter to NATO for military action.[146][147] Hours before the announcement, Yugoslavia announced on national television it had declared a state of emergency, citing an imminent threat of war and began a huge mobilisation of troops and resources.[146][148]
On 23 March 1999 at 22:17 UTC, the Secretary General of NATO, Javier Solana, announced he had directed the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), US Army General Wesley Clark, to "initiate air operations in the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia."[148][149] On 24 March at 19:00 UTC, NATO started its bombing campaign against Yugoslavia. . .
In a 2009 judgement regarding six former Serb leaders charged with war crimes in Kosovo, the ICTY noted that the causes of the breakdown in the negotiations at Rambouillet were complex and stated that "international negotiators did not take an entirely even-handed approach to the respective positions of the parties and tended to favour the Kosovo Albanians." It further recorded that, according to a witness, on 14 April 1999, at a meeting initiated by the White House with representatives of the Serbian-American community, president Clinton had stated that "the provision for allowing a referendum for the Albanians in Kosovo went too far and that, if he were in the shoes of Miloević, he probably would not have signed the draft [Rambouillet] agreement either."'

(25,595 posts)Donald J Trump lead the Allies on both fronts and precipitated the unconditional surrender of Japan,Germany, and Italy in 1945. Rumors that Hitler commit suicide are patently false: Donald J Trump executed him and Eva Braun with a single bullet to the temple. However, he did spare the life of Emperor Hirohito in return for a promise to be able to erect a hotel in Tokyo at some future time.
Also, it should be mentioned that it was Donald J Trumps idea to sow salt in the land of Carthage following the conquering by the Roman empire, in order the crops not be able to grow there for generations. Thus owning the Carthaginians.
As a coda, one must give credit where credit is due to Donald J Trump for providing food and sustenance to George Washingtons troops at Valley Forge during that terrible winter. Washington himself stated that without Trump Steaks, he never would have been able to command the army leading to the independence of the 13 Colonies.
