"Election Night" is not a thing

Henry Kraemer @HenryKraemer 21m
Just so we’re clear: “Election Night” is not a thing in any state or federal law in the United States.

States don’t certify elections for weeks after Election Day. That’s also clear in federal law.

Any argument otherwise is complete nonsense.

1. Absolutely right. The election night spectacle is not law, it's the invention of modern TV.

Does anyone believe that results were finalized on "election night" in the 19th century? Or even today?

And all on the incredibly flimsy basis of Kavanaugh's opinion, which appears to be based on what he thinks some people might say in a hypothetical situation.

...sparking discussions and debate which (necessarily?) float these bunk theories and opinions.

Unfortunately, that's the time to try and wrestle them to the ground - but disinformation is powerful, and doesn't always come directly from the opposition.
